I know this has been asked before but I am in desperate need of slightly better winter tires here in Tahoe without buying a full winter set. I see mixed thoughts on rubbing issues with these.

I am a car idiot and trying to learn, thanks!

You usually only have to worry about rubbing issues when going to 265/75 R16. I have 265/70 R16 with no rubbing issues. My wheels have a 0 offset and 4.5 back spacing.

IMHO you'd be well served to buy a cheap set of take off wheels and real winter tires where you live.

The tires pictured may be better condition that what you have now, but they aren't winter tires. Are you allowed to run chains or cables on the roads there? Studs? If not.........

My 2007 came with 265/70/16's from the factory. They are about 3/4" wider than 245/75/16's and the same height. I changed to 265/75/16's once the factory tires wore out and never looked back. My current tires are about 1" taller than stock, same width. That 1" doesn't make a huge difference in ground clearance, but 265/75/16's are more common and less expensive than 265/70/16's.

They aren't enough bigger to have any negatives with performance or fuel mileage and I think they look better.

do yourself, your truck, the people you drive, and the people driving around you a favor.... if you live full time in the tahoe area, set of steelies and some proper winter tires.

I have 265/70/16 on my truck now.
    It’s not lifted, it’s stick.
    No rubbing

265/70-R16 is what came stock with my 07 prerunner. Pretty sure it will fit just fine on yours.

I thankfully can use chains where I live. I live in an area where I only have to leave every 2 weeks so I don't see the point in having snow tires as I can choose to not drive if it's majorly snowy. I just want something more solid and comfortable driving around in mild-snow conditions, though I do worry these will lack highway performance.
