the catch with online tires (and many shops) is the production date.

they often send out tires that have been sitting in a warehouse for several years.

this might not matter to some people. personally, i dont care if the cheaper on sale tires are old, because i usually ruin tires before they dry rot.

that being said, if i pay full price for tires, the tires had better be brand new production.

@FishaRnekEd Okay cool. That’s fine with me as long as they’re not defective tires.

I’m picking up wheels from a Toyota dealer (they told me after purchasing that they won’t ship them). So I’m wondering if I bring these tires, if they’ll mount them or tell me they’ll only mount tires I bought from them…or that the tires aren’t OEM spec to the Tacoma so they can’t do it.

yep, that is the pain in the ass with buying online tires. all the tire shops say "we only install tires that you bought from us" (because we marked them the fuck up 40%)

im about to say fk it and buy the $160 cheap ass brand 33"s from walmart, shipped to store with $17 each instalation.

I have heard people say this, but this has not been the case in my experience. All the tires I've ordered online (25+) have been made within 6 months.

I've gotten much older tires from tire shops locally.

I have taken those Amazon prices to my local Discount Tire and they have matched them. They are not happy about it, but they have done it for me. I would try that if you have a large tire chain near you.

I just bought 5 of these through the Amazon link. 4 of them showed up next day, 5th showed up the next. They're dated 9/22. Can't beat this pricing!!!

They shipped from SimpleTire via UPS.

X2. Discount Tire ("America's Tire" in CA) matched an eBay listing for my Duratracs and I saved about $120.

that'd suck to deal with an out-of-round tire. i had it happen too many times at local shops and although dealing with it was a pia, i got it resolved and couldn't imagine having to ship a tire back and wait for a replacement.

i like the idea of getting a local shop to price match, and do business locally even if it costs a bit more.

Damn, this is a sweet deal. I would've gone with this over the Kenda for $37 less per tire. Funny like a week ago you couldn't get these for less than $220 per tire, and now they're super cheap. Whatever!

There really isn't a huge catch.. the price is what these tires should be costing anyway so I really wouldn't call that a "deal" but more of a price adjustment to the correct price they should be.

As the first replied mentioned, it's the production date where they get you. They do that to start trying to move old stock. Just like batteries, tires are another consumable item with a "lot rot" style degradation over time. Temperature controlled or not.

I've done a mod or two
The catch appears to be that they're really small tires
