Winter is coming and I am in need of some new shoes for the taco! however i am on the fence between two phenomenal tires, which is the falken wildpeaks and the nitto ridge grapplers. Ive read and read on the two tires but still cant really find what im looking for. whats the pros and cons of each? how does one perform in rain/snow better or worse than the other? hopefully try and make it a little easier to pull the trigger on one or the other!

Falken Wildpeak A/T3W is an AT snow-rated tire; Nitto Ridge Grappler is a hybrid MT/AT. Nitto should be better off-road and in mud and rocks, Falken better in snow on road. Wildpeak has more sizes and weight ratings available. Nitto only has 2 16" E-rated sizes, but plenty of choices in 17".

If you have 17" wheels and $$$$, go for Nitto; 16" and $$$, Falken. Need snow tires? Falken.
Mostly highway? Falken. Mostly off-road? Nitto. The Nittos look better than the Falkens, IMO, but my son bought Falkens for his 1G and they look and drive great. He chose them for snow rating and price. He has had trouble getting one of them to balance.

I'm leaning toward Falkens for price and 16" 265/75/16 C-rated availability.

I wont lie one of the main reasons I have been so strongly considering the nitto is for one they look sexy as can be and two they seem to be a little more aggressive. the falkens i have not seen in person but the nitto i have.

I have 17's and $$$ is a little tight atm but either could be done

I have the falkens and they are great. I have them in standard load. I haven't taken them in mud or anything serious yet just gravel mountain roads and they were great. They are very quiet on the road and ride nice. It just started to rain here in western Washington so I'm excited to see how they perform on wet roads through the winter. The few weeks that I have had them in wet conditions have been great. I went with falkens for 2 reasons. Since I have 285s weight was a concern for me and almost every other tire manufacturer that carries that size have them in E rated. The 2nd reason was the wet road performance. No issues with balancing. I like discount tire or costco for purchasing tires if that helps too, no bs if a problem arises.
    Good luck

As stated by @gilligoon, they look great in person. A lot more aggressive than in pics.

... I offered him $700... no go. Toyo is very similar to the Ridge Grapplers... same construction, different tread.

My son's Falkens did great on Hurricane Creek Rd in NC... but so did my stock Wranglers at 35 PSI... and that is about as gnarly off-road as I ever go, so unless you are doing extreme offroad (in your $35K, loan-encumbered DD...) tires are aesthetic choice, for the most part.

But I have definitely found the limits of AT tires... and that is MUD.
