    Hello,
I have a 1996 Regular Cab 2WD that's a swap project of mine. My goal is to make the truck handle like it's on rails, while also having some semblance of street manners.

Part of my goal is to fit a wide, meaty, square setup on the truck, think 25x10.5r17s on all 4 corners. Think roughly like @2Runner's taco. [IMG]

I'm not new to the concept of cutting until it fits, but I want to be aware of what I'm getting myself into before diving in. Am I going to have to go to a more aggressive wheel fitment in order to still achieve full lock without contact (and retaining the front sway bar) with a 17x9.5 or 17x10? For what it's worth, I'll be lowered on Double adjustable QA1 Coilovers in the front, and a custom single triangulated 4-link w/Panhard (aka 5-link I guess) in the rear of the truck.

If anyone else out there has done something similar or has any insight, I'm all ears.

Our trucks are very different being an 02 versus a 96 especially the front fender wells, so unfortunately my stuff wont work out the same on your truck.. but my methodology would.

I measured how much clearance I had lock to lock then had a rough idea how wide a tire I could fit while keeping about .25" clearance. The used an offset calculator to keep the tire centered as feasible in the wheel well.

A less aggressive wheel width would also reduce any rubbing issues on your sway bar, however this affects the way your tires fit and widths accordingly.

Many different mods ensued to keep from rubbing all kinds of parts on the truck, read my build thread for better details and technical details as its way more than I can recount here!

The 1996 and 2002 share the same body parts with exception of the front bumper/grille, and some of the brackets. Even the fender aprons are the same. I think you're confusing the 1996 with the older 1995 and older pickup.

Edit: I failed to mention I'm replacing the entire front clip with a 2004 front clip. Fenders included.

If you read my thread you see my 9's rubbed the sway bar on my 02.

Going for those 10.5's will be tricky and require more mods than I did.. so maybe save time and money forgetting about your front end conversion and simply grab a sawz-all..

I will be watching to see how your truck turns out for sure!
