With the Tacoma being so popular and sought after..what makes the truck so good in your own experience? I personally like the way it looks and drives and I enjoy knowing its one of the most reliable and longest lasting engines out there.

    There is no best truck.

But my answer can be found in your first post.
Which basically means, I don’t enjoy working on stuff.
    That’s why I bought a Toyota Truck.

Simple. I dig it because I own it.

This is my truck. There are many like it, but this one is mine. Without me my truck is useless. Without my truck I am useless. I must drive it true.

Toyota reliability and for me it's one of only 2 models of truck remaining that can be had with a manual transmission.

It's basically all dry now already, not having carpet or anything soft that isn't easily removable helps, pulled the Dyna-pad open cell foam bits out and put carpet fans on them, the rest dried overnight more or less.

I'll still be pulling it apart a little further and cleaning the silt best I can this weekend though I probably won't be going overboard till I pull my dash to dyna the firewall but that's a project for a day when I have something else to daily.

Good times had, at least my snorkel is justified, twice now...

When I was truck shopping, I saw it as the best choice among nothing but bad choices.

I get bad mileage because I drive it with a heavy foot. Same reason I don’t get a whole lot of life out of tires.

Overall I can’t complain. It has no major design flaws. Starts every time after replacing the starter solenoid.

Random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
Love my 2nd gen Tacoma. Wouldn’t mind a 79 series cruiser though. Never been a fan of full size trucks. Love the jidoka/kaisen principles that are foundation to toyota. Cheers!

Best is when you have 10 million dollars and choose anything.

rubicon gladiator (and others) appear to be a better Tacoma than an actual Tacoma

Some vehicles can offroad better but drive like shit on the highway (ie, anything with a solid front axle)

Some vehicles drive/commute better on the highway.. but aren't very capable offroad

The Tacoma does a good job of being reasonably capable at both

I think i read somewhere that the Tacoma v6 does not overwork itself..runs at lower rpms and temps..relies alot on torque

Simple…the reason a lot of people like tacomas is their size.

it’s nice to have a truck for errands, but sucks having a full size truck for daily driving like a f250 or a Dodge Ram.

so the Tacoma is a small truck that drives like a car, and can fit in parking garages and parking spaces. While being able to do small task.

the off roading thing is a nice bonus

I can't understand why anyone would want a diesel in a small vehicle now other than to say they have one, with all the emissions bs on them now they have gone from the bulletproof, efficient, and reliable powerplants they used to be to inefficient, finicky, not so reliable, and extremely expensive to fix.

1 emissions sensor decides it's not happy and they shut you down after a few miles, 1 tankfull of bad fuel or the mistake of putting gasoline or DEF in one could cost over $10,000 to fix the fuel system.

Even fleets that used to buy mostly diesel trucks have gone back to buying gasoline trucks because of cost and reliability.

If we could get a pre-emissions diesel in one yea that would be great but those days are long gone unfortunately.
