Just curious why Tacoma owners actively seek 'poke' .... aesthetic gains? (I don't see it) - seems to me that actively seeking poke just increases the chance you'll inadvertently damage someone else's windshield.. seems kind of selfish, unless I am missing something... thoughts?

Increasing poke/widening wheelbase after lifting reduces rollover risk.

The only legit reason I can think of, is to improve side-to-side stability in a lifted vehicle.

Form over function. Personally I think poke looks stupid, so I truly see no reason to seek it, but those who do like the looks. The truth of the matter is it decreases quality of handling, increases chances of throwing rocks and crap everywhere, and it's just overall a poor choice unless you literally care about looks over everything else.

Most people looking for poke don't even know that any changes like that affect the ideal stock steering geometry design, and they're so enamored with their new looks that they never even notice the new adverse handling characteristics, too much positive scrub radius being one of them.

    Yep ^^^

Also, a wider stance is generally more appealing, and can make your truck look more.. “aggressive”.

However, too much poke… half the tire, or more, can cause you to just look silly. IMO

    To each their own.

There's a sweet spot, as long as you're not going ''full Hawaii" you're good.

No money, all went to truck...
    I'm offended!

Nah, there's some pretty ridiculous trucks in Hawaii. The local parade had some pretty ridiculous Toyotas. But yes, to each your own...

Ah, the Internet. People will never agree and there will always be legitimate reasons to disagree.

The most important thing to consider? What do you have control over.

Can’t control how people are going to modify their truck, but you can choose to overpass those that are a threat to your windshield. Or slow down and let someone else in between. Etc.

Because even with fat fenders and the most tucked in wheels possible I still cannot fully cover a 315/75/16 :/

I don't know shit, other than my paint would be worse than it is already with a wider track, but does it actually improve stability in the case of a rollover? You're messing with the engineered steering and suspension geometry, perhaps adversely, so is there any proof (as in actual rollover tests) to show that slapping spacers actually increases overall stability?

Mostly just asking about spacers here... Not full linkage, suspension, axle, etc rebuilds.

He speaks the truth, including the "jitters" you will get from the steering wheel when you hit a curb or rock and the wheel almost breaks your arm.
