I drive an 86' Toyota 4x4 and 91' 2wd. Both bought new and still going strong. One will be a farm truck and one to the kid. For me, I am going to splurge and buy a new 2019 TRD off-road next month. This will probably be my last truck so I want be frivolous and add fancy wheels. Lots of research on this site and elsewhere. I see a lot of cool aftermarket stuff out there but some folks on here suggest that the oem wheels, such as the oem TRD pro wheels (as opposed, for instance, to TRD "style"), are superior. Specifically why? Sure, there is some garbage out there, but all of it? One person criticized aftermarket wheels as cast aluminum. Aren't the oem TRD wheels cast aluminum as well? Yes, I trust the quality of Toyota factory stuff over the rest as well. What I would like to know is how, specifically, are the oem wheels better? Btw, I intend to buy 17" oem TRD pro wheels (~$180) and 265 70 17 Wildpeak at3w tires.

That's fricken awesome you have kept those old Yotas this long and bought them new. How many miles on each if you don't mind me asking? I kick myself in the ass daily for selling my 2003 regular cab 4x4 manual.

I'm far from a wheel expert but from what I've gathered you can match or exceed OEM wheel quality by going aftermarket. For instance, many of the premium aftermarket wheels are flow forged, making them lighter and stronger. Plus you can get more unique finishes, different offset, wider, etc.

    You should check out www.stealthcustomseries.com

No I don't work for them, I just dig there styles and there presence here on the forum. I'll probably be getting their wheels shortly.

Believe it or not, 100k on the 86 and 150k on the 91. I drive less than most folks. I'll check out this site.

One good thing if you stick with the OEM TRD pro wheels is that the offset causes a lot less problems with fitment than some of the aftermarket wheels.
If you chose to you can run 285s on them without rubbing your UCAs.

Really? I thought I read a few posts saying the largest you could run on a 17" wheel without rubbing was 265 70 unless you added a lift, which I don't want to do.

Your right, but if down the road you do lift, the wheels work for bigger tires

I have a 2012 double cab trd sport long bed, and just bought the 17x7 trd pro wheels. I looked on a few websites and some say they fit my truck while others say they don’t. Has anyone installed them on the 2012 in here?

Lightweight, hub-centric, no ridiculous offsets, no bro beads...all-in-one.
