Why is this tire not made? Come on Goodyear let's see a Duratrac offered in both 16" and 17" in 33x10.5.

-Great contact patch for ice/snow on a small truck
-Fits stock 7" rim (with a small lift of course)
-Shouldn't be worries about back spacing or rubbing UCA
-Wide enough to avoid the pizza cutter look
-Rated for the light weight of the truck

Note to Goodyear: Please make it close to true to size, at least 32.5 but 32.75 would be better. My BFG 33x9.5R15 actually measures less than 31.5". Take that Tacoma market from BFG.

If someone else makes this size tire with a snowflake please post it below for the rest of us that drive ice/snow half the year.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
A 285-70/17 in D load is about as close as you're going to get for the Duratrac.

Thanks for the heads up, I most likely will have to change my rims out to get what I'm looking for but I still wonder why that size is missing. I think it would be very popular in the Toyota world. I've run 35x12.5 and 33x12.5 in the past and there's way too much float and after a couple near misses moved down to pizza cutters for the winters. I don't know about the 11.2 width of the 285 as I haven't run them. The 10.43 width of the 265/70R17 Duratrac on my wife's 4runner seems great though.

Anyone know if tire shops care about mounting a 285/75R16 on a 7" wide rim? Still though the point of this thread was to point out a hole in the market after seeing all these guys running E range tires because that's all there is.

Have you looked at the 255/85r16 Cooper ST Maxx? I realize they're E rated, which is what it appears you're attempting to avoid, but it's close in the other areas you're wanting. I made a 70 mile trip home after an ice storm and was surprised at how well they maintain traction. It's not snowflake rated, but it is studdable. There's someone on TW running them year-round with studs in them and claims they're not really noticeable on dry pavement, so that may be an alternative. They also run wide so they're really more like a 265/80r16 (which no-one makes btw).

If you haven't looked at them, check them out. If you have already, disregard me.

There is also the older cooper st all terrain. Ive run them and the newer st maxx, the old st are D rated and drive really good, had great winter manners and are studable and are 33.2 tall.

Thanks guys, if I swap rims I'd most likely just go with a 275/70R17 since the BFG has the snowflake and do pretty well in the snow. In British Columbia we are required to have M&S minimum in the winter and you get fined for running studs past spring time. I was not aware the ST MAXX ran wide. I'll take a closer look at those as I like the factory rims on my OR. I'm new to the Tacoma world and reading all I can so tips like those are great.

A story for the skinny tire guys: Years ago I was out with a few trucks leading on a trail up into the mountains north of Vancouver BC. I had an 85 Toy with 33x12.5's, a full detroit rear, front true trac and a 3 inch lift. Eventually it got too deep, I couldn't go any further so I pulled off. My friend went by in his 85 Toy with 35x12.5's, front and rear ARB's and a 5 inch lift. He got another 50 yards and could go no further. For fun we let the IFS Toy in the group try. He had a Torsion bar crank, hammered fenders, BFG 33x9.5's with open diffs. We followed the trail he made for us for another 2km...

I've been eyeballing that size too but of course it means a rim upgrade plus they're $395 each. Again the main point of this thread was to point out a hole in the market for that tire option. I do like the 34x10.5 since it only measures 33.1 to 33.5 depending on your rim width and looks great from the pics I see. Reading these forums seems to lead a guy to building his daily into a crawler... At least thats what happened to my last truck, trying to keep that in check this time.
