Why does everyone use Rigid backup lights?

    They're $200

Why not use something similar shaped that looks like it could also fit in the hole, but cheaper?
I've seen lights that look like they might fit at Wal-Mart, Harbor Freight, online such as Amazon, etc.

    Example, ~$20:

    https://www.amazon.com/s?k=tacoma+flush+mount+light&ref=nb_sb_noss

I mean after all, light is light, right?
It's just adding extra output for reverse; I'm not sure how much technical specifications matter, such as beam pattern

Not everyone uses the $200.00 lights. I’ve been running the Amazon knock offs for a healthy 5+ years.

I don't have them but I would likely opt for the $20 one and silicone them before installing.

Because some people actually use their trucks and need to rely on good light output and don’t want to bolt a new piece of Chinese junk to their vehicle every year. Just a matter of personal preference, I’ve had good experience with knock off brands and awful experience where it quickly proved to be a waste of money. If you have a problem with a rigid light, you call rigid and the problem gets fixed, if you have a problem with Chinese junk that isn’t even going to be on Amazon in a year when you notice the light has become a fish bowl, go for it. Don’t assume everyone who buys nice things for their truck does it to brag about the money they spent tho

Also, fwiw: when you buy a knock off product like that from Amazon, you’re buying a product from someone who makes a living tracking popularity trends and marketing for online retail and is making a cheap product just to turn a quick buck. When you buy a product from a company like rigid (or any other industry specific name brand), you’re buying from a company who is in the 4x4 business to make products for enthusiasts, so decide who’s pockets you want to fill accordingly. You can buy from a good company that isn’t in it to make cheap knock offs without paying top dollar like you do with rigid also.

I've run several Amazon specials for lights and they've been just fine for their intended purpose. I only recently got some Rigids(not flush mount) cause of a sale and I got SAE fogs at the same time. And in my case...divorce = more $

Like @Cooldood said, your budget and useage will guide you. Just cause of the name doesn't mean they're the sh!znit. I've had a pair of Rigids that needed the threads chased in the housing cause they're mass produced like everything else.

If you buy the cheap ones, they most likely won’t last very long. You’re not really saving money if you have to bid another set in six months. Buy quality parts, they last.

I'm not going to tell someone 200 isnt a lot, because it is. But, I will say that the mentality of always wanting the least expensive product is what drives the garbage train from China. I hang out at the local speed shop w/ my other truck and we always..always..ALWAYS see the difference in taiwan/china junk vs american made products. Can you find me some american made junk too? Sure! But after 22 years of modding. Have learned time after time, whether it's for the car, bike, house or whatever....In the long run cheap shit doesn't last as long, doesnt fit as well and doesn't perform as well.

Because Rigid is made in the USA and Nilight is made in China. If that's not enough reason for you then whatever..

I’ve got cheap ones. Had them in my rear bumper for 2 years. Never had condensation in them.

20 versus 200 hundred is a pretty big difference. I have cheap leds on my fishing boat that have lasted for years. Would not hesitate to put them on my truck. As far as supporting the USA, kind of ironic since our trucks are from a Japanese company that continues to shut down U.S. factories. My guess is most USA companies are sourcing materials and parts from overseas anyway. To each their own. At the end of the day, I like cash in my wallet to invest in a global market and make more money.

I’ve gone through 3 sets of fog lights, leaking, bulbs going out, HID ballasts etc. and got tired of it, bought a set of SS3 PRO’s and called it a day!

As others have said, you get what you pay for. Me, I'm not a fan of that style lights regardless of who makes it. I always recommend these.

    https://www.amazon.com/Rigid-Indust...rds=rigid+backup+lights&qid=1587994205&sr=8-1

They're from rigid, but are much smaller. They pack a hell of a punch though. And $130 is very reasonable for what you're getting.

I don't have them, but the reason why people choose them is because of the brand/quality and light output. I have Rough countries on my ditch light, reverse light, and sidelights w/ Cali raised LED amber fog lights. Those I have listed are around $80-120 per pair and does the job for me. Had them for two years now (except the caliraised) and have not leaked (in Louisiana where it rains almost every other day). The output is decent in my opinion. Blinds the shit out of you if you look straight at it. Most of mine are floodlights (light disperse in a wide area instead of narrow/concentrated) except the Cali raised fog lights.

I have 3 sets of Nilight led’s on my truck. One set has been on 4 years, 1 for about 3 and the other for a little over a year. None of them are leaky/foggy, the light output is good and every time it turn them on they work. So......

    So.... What?

I don't think anyone is denying that they work. And, depending on your use and budget, they might be a good choice.

Some people just want the absolute best. And, Rigid are one of the best, if not THE best.

I doubted this at first, when I began looking at ditch lights. But, looking at specs, the Rigids are significantly brighter than the competition. Combine that with their reputation, and the price doesn't seem too bad.

As with any product, buy what works for you. I wanted the brightest lights I could get, so I bought Rigid. No regrets.
