Hey guys, im a total noob at this truck stuff. still learning! Why is is that people lift their front 2 inches and their back only 1? is it because the back is lifted more than the front? I am looking to lift my truck and am at a loss.

    Welcome to TW.
    Because that levels the truck.
It has a rake from the factory, sits one inch higher in the rear than the front.

Thanks! are there any benefits to having a level truck or is it just preference at that point?

The back is higher for when you load your truck bed it will sit level and it won’t blind everyone at night with your taillights

    Just preference.
If you lift the front 2inches and nothing in the back, you get the bro lean or Carolina squat look

The rear us higher to help with the truck being loaded. Leveling the truck gives it a bit taller of an appearance from the front, but keep in mind that loading things into the back will now cause your front to tip up farther, and thus make for some possibly angry oncoming traffic at night.

I would say my budget is about 1k. I would love to have someone teach me how to do it rather than pay someone to do it. I would like to put bed racks on the back and be able to go deeper into the woods than a stock tacoma. no crazy rock crawling or anything like that.

    Welcome aboard, Eric

Is the bed loaded in your pic? Because your truck looks level. And that's a good example of why you have rake from the factory - I have a 2.5 inch front lift and 3 n change out back to keep that rake.

This is a great thread to read up on lifts

Good luck and enjoy your truck

It's up to you. You'll probably want to readjust your headlights with any sort of lift anyway. That'll take care of that issue entirely.

    Where are you located?
    A set of bilstein 5100s and add a leaf from @HeadStrong Off-Road
The 1000 bucks will get you close to what you are looking for. Maybe a couple hundred more.
