Just more marker/DRL lights? Do people just put them on because they look cool? Do Tacoma owners want to identify as Raptor owners without making the commitment? Will a Tacoma with Raptor lights be allowed into a shop that's only meant for Raptors?

I think Raptor lights are cool on a Raptor. Putting them on anything else is not cool.

Halo head lights, spinners, chrome, pin stripes, spoilers, mod stickers, fake roll bars, fake scoops, fake canards.

    Fads come and go.

Raptor lights bother me least of all.

I just got back from Puerto Rico. Tons of tacos and 90% had raptor lights. Maybe on the narrow streets of San Juan you need markers for anything over two feet wide

They are intended to be clearance lights so you know how close you are to an object. The Ford Raptor is required to have certain marker lights per NHTSA guidelines due to the wheelbase's width. On any other vehicles, it's simply for style points. Although lights similar to the ones used on the Raptor can be useful as clearance lighting when you are it tight situations without a spotter.

Not Raptor lights but their marker lights, not specific to Raptors only.

As a gentleman’s observation- the quantity of ‘donk was indeed abundant, whilst the quality of said ‘donk was lacking.

Vehicles over a certain width are required to have them, the ford raptor is a very wide truck, so it has to have them from the factory. It then takes off as a fad. No one's confusing a tacoma for a raptor, even in the dark, so imo it's stupid. Especially as most "raptor lights" don't even bother to meet the spacing/size/illuminstion requirements to be useful as markers.

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
To each their own. I see the increased visibility being a plus, but I think mostly it's just a trendy and easy mod for Taco owners to customize their truck.

I added some custom amber LEDs with a flasher module in the grill, for SAR and emergency use. I don't run them as DRL, but I think they are great for their intended purpose and still discreet when not in use.

because we live in 2022, and we are consumed by the consumed, we live in a age of self aggrandizement, materialism, and instant gratification, meanwhile striving for constant validity on social media in efforts to "clout" chase and become the "next social media" sensation around their truck. useless mod that does nothing but poops on the original ascetics of the tacoma. Hope that helps.....

From my fuzzy memory, Raptor was one of the first production models, if not the first, to grille-mount the marker lights. Hence the term, Raptor lights. Most trucks that actually need markers mount them to the cab where they damn well belong. Because the original intent was for other drivers to see them when cresting a hill and give them opportunity to say "shit, here comes a biggun', better give it a wide berth."

So I'm in camp "silly as fuck Raptor trend" when it comes to grille mounted markers. But what stones do I have to throw, considering I have a bunch of other silly shit bolted to the truck.
