Why are hoses and pipes and clamps not covered under warranty?

I have a 2022 SR with 10k miles on it, I have a coolant leak where I am losing a quarter inch of coolant every 2-3 days, cannot find the leak ANYWHERE, no coolant on the ground, none on my skidplate, cant see on any pipes or hoses, I have an appointment with the dealer on monday, they prefaced they were about to say after i told them about the leak that "hoses, clamps and pipes are not covered under any of the warranty even the initial 36k" well why not? I am being quoted $1200 if it is the hose that usually leaks on 3rd gens thats behind the engine(coolant bypass i think), i called a couple other shops and got quotes for $800-900. I gave you almost $40k a year ago and now I need to drop another $1200 on something that is not my fault? Is there anyway to fight this or any other alternatives? It blows my mind thats not covered under a bumper to bumper warranty.

Go to a different dealer. Most likely its the coolant pipe/bypass behind the engine.

Yeah thats what they said on the phone its most likely, so why would that not be covered under warranty? also i am having a hard time locating it when under the truck to see if there is coolant there. any pics for reference so i can locate it?

    Liar's.

Call Toyota USA, be polite, mention the dealer and their refusal to cover the warranty that is still in effect.

Tell them it's losing a significant amount of coolant and you're worried that the engine may overheat.

There have been a few threads. You won't find any puddles, the coolant usually evaporates and leaves pink crystals on the pipe. Its a difficult spot to see, might need a mirror

says it right here on toyotas website...

Normal Wear and Tear Is Not Included
Components of your car that have to be repaired or replaced because they are worn out from use are not covered under the warranty. This includes items like brake pads, brake rotors, batteries, windshield wiper blades, hoses, air filters, oil filters, lightbulbs, and fluids. Additionally, the warranty does not cover any repairs that are the result of a collision, vandalism, or neglect. As such, it is important to have your car maintained by the dealership according to manufacturer recommendations.

It’s not a “hose” nor is it a typical wear part that wears with use. It should be covered and has been covered quite a few times by dealers when in warranty period.

I think it's arguable that while yes one expects to replace hoses and clamps in time, it's not within a year and 10K.

Even if this was considered a hose..

Yeah, its an actual pipe. Not a hose.

It's a generalization. There's a real warranty manual that clarifies this.

Every item on the car is covered under warranty.

Don't let the internet freak you out and talk to a human at a dealer about this.

The coolant crossover is covered for 5yr 60,000 miles for future reference.

It's not ''worn from use'' it's a known issue and I believe there is even a missive on it. Belts I understand, a hose doesn't ''wear out'' in a year and neither do clamps unless they are defective.

I’m not sure exactly what info you gave them, I’d look for another dealer. They don’t sound too helpful, between knowing it’s not covered and assuming it’s the pipe on the back of the engine.

There is a difference between a hose and a pipe.

A hose is soft and flexible while a pipe is metal and not flexible.

No drips on ground so did you check your oil "just in case" to make sure it isn't frothy white?
