I assume quite a few of you. Any issues with rubber swelling, shock boot swelling, or anything like that?

Also did you spray on the engine or exhaust by accident? CRC confirmed to me via email that their corrosion spray is still flammable after it has been sprayed on. Apparently heat will make it out gas and the vapor can ignite.

Obviously no ones truck has caught fire because of it, but I'm curious to how careful I should be with masking those areas off. I'm really just thinking about doing FF again.

    FF, skip the CRC.

I'm trying to avoid FF because I hate the greasiness of it. I bought a few cans of CRC to sample it to see if it was less greasy.

Don't know about CRC, but its suppose to be similar, or the same as cosmoline. I contacted cosmoline about the same for rubber, and plastic items that might get overspray on them using their rp-342 cosmoline product. They told me it shouldn't affect them, but to be safe, try to avoid spraying them. Best to pick a very hot day to use this stuff so it dries within an hr. or so, yet it will creep into all crevices that need protection. This stuff is fantastic. it remains waxy to the touch even after a 1 1/2 years since i did it, still looking like new. Its no wonder mercedes, bmw, and our military use it.

I guess my concern was more around the flammability of cosmoline type coatings. I sprayed the stuff on my hitch receiver as a test and its amazing. I'm just concerned with how careful I need to be around the exhaust. With FF I got a ton on the exhaust and it just burned away.

Frankly I think CRC will wash off. Yes cosmoline will burn.

I didn't get any spray on my exhaust, but they recommend not to spray the exhaust, probably for that reason. I don't its anything to get excited about once that its dry. Like anything it'll just burn off like paint.

From what i understand CRC is basically cosmoline. That stuff wears like iron once its dry.

I sprayed all the typical problem areas of a Tacoma frame last night... and holy shit... this stuff isn't going anywhere.

Makes bolts a nice golden color as well.

Alright, I was just about to order some CRC. Am I to understand CRC isn't the official TW recommended product anymore?

Lol. TW recommended products change more often than the weather. Ask the guys looking for tires.

I'm impressed with the CRC. I just really hated the greasiness of FF. Since this is my second 3rd gen, I sprayed the areas that I knew tended to rust. Also since my truck is newer, I have Toyota's solution on my truck. Curious to see how it works so I didn't spray there.

Only issue i had with fluid film living here in the new england was the reapplication of it every fall. I'm get too old for those messy jobs, not mention i must of driven up the stock market value of fluid film in the last 20 years buying so much of that stuff. For the first year in a long time i've got a free day from not having to do that job over. Cosmoline for the win!
