Hi, am considering upgrading to a 2024 later this year (if I can talk myself past the price) and I'm pretty sure my shell won't fit because of that overhang behind the cab. Looking to find out what a shell will cost. Can anyone point me at some mid-cost manufacturers.
    Thanks.

There aren’t likely to be “mid-cost” shells for the 2024 for a few years at least.

But the cheap brands won’t be: ARE, SnugTop, Leer to name a few.

cheaper ones I have heard of, but not sure if they are still around: Century

Leer and ARE shells are not available at this moment since '24 models are new and different from 2nd/3rd gens. Maybe they will be available in coming months or so.

If you decide to get a shell in the summer, SmartCap will be available in June/July... Details here:

They need to get their fitment better this go round. Their caps look great, but most don't seem to look like they were made for the truck they are on.

I just paid $4k for an A.R.E. MX cap with windoors for my shortbed full size truck in WA State.

Not including over 10% in local taxes.

And, the dealers in my area are terrible, they know they don't have any real competition.

This is ARE's status, current as of 3/14.

Not having ever owned anything like this before, will there be some sort of a camera location kit?

I may not understand you right but I think you meant camera relocation such as from tailgate to shell near brake light. If so,

If you have a camera on the tailgate, then you don't need camera relocation for the shell such as Leer, ARE, etc..

If you are talking about RV like camper, then they include it on the camper as long as the tailgate has been removed for door version of camper.

I was referring to the camera that's mounted over the rear window.

    Something new for '24?

Seems like an odd place for a camera.

On mine, there are two cameras. One for the electronic rearview mirror and one that looks into the bed.

I get it now... I didn't know that 24 models have camera above the rear window.

In that case, call the shell place in your area and see what they do something about camera if you decide to order a shell. I am guessing that they add window on the shell for that camera to view your bed.. Never know.

That would mean we will pay extra for camera relocation to the shell total. I guess. We will find out once the shells are done built and shipped to the dealers.

Or they could add camera in the shell at the factory. Who knows.

This guy made a post several months ago about looking for a '24 test truck. Looks like he found a test truck and his kit works with the new one:

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
The cap manufacturers hopefully can knock this one out of the park…IMG_8255.jpg but I’m not holding my breath.

Century (and also Raider) are Leer caps sold under another badge. Same factory, same molds, etc.
