    Hi,

I have a 2017 Tacoma SR5 and my driver's side rear bumper got hit on a small post I couldn't see and it cracked so I took it off. The other side is fine but I am looking to order a replacement chrome bumper for my driver's side rear bumper and I live in Hawai'i. Every reliable company I found does not ship those parts to Hawai'i, even if they say they do. I was wondering if anyone on this forum knew any companies that ship bumpers to Hawai'i that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? Trying to avoid having to go straight to the dealership to get it replaced.

That's just it, everything costs an arm and a leg, because it has to be shipped in, and there's no room to store things. It's the price you pay.

    Welcome btw

    Welcome to TW!

I have ordered parts from and shipped to me in Hawaii.

    https://toyotaparts.mcgeorgetoyota.com

prices are reasonable compared to locally. I have ordered air filters and lots of misc replacement parts for my truck and my wifes NX. Only way to know how much it costs to ship is to add the items to the cart, then enter your zip code and it gives a cost for shipping. Shipping prices was fair compared to other sites i have visited. Also Amazon may have some parts.

This may be a long shot, but have you tried a freight forwarder?
Not sure how costly it is but you share a shipping container with others and you are charged by the volume.

I'm shocked with all the Tacomas on the island (pretty much every truck is a Tacoma) that you all don't have solid parts options.

Yes Genius, you do, but when you can float a bunch of parts instead of one at a time, the price goes down. Understanding that it is an island impacts the laws of supply and demand with my point being that there are a lot of Tacomas on the island so it would seem reasonable that there should be ample demand to justify the supply.

No reason to be a jerk.

How many parts does Toyota house / store in Florida? My guess is they have a decent stock of basic items in the dealers, but the bulk of them come from warehouses strategically placed around the country. When you order something, chances are the part comes from the warehouse in another state in 1-2 days, not from the shelf in the dealer. No dealer wants millions of dollars of inventory on their shelves, especially if their purchasing audience is limited to a few islands thousands of miles away from land.

As a result, the majority of parts needed in Hawaii need to be flown in (boat is likely several weeks), hence the cost. Everything in Hawaii is more expensive as a result.

Apparently you haven't been to Hawaii so maybe jumping into the conversation isn't the greatest idea.

dealers don't stock parts. unless its like an oil filter. literally everything comes from the main ware houses.

This is true. If a dealer stocks a certain part, you can beat your ass, they got stuck with, or more than likely, it's a high turn item. IE fails often.

I believe OP is only looking to buy the drivers side chrome bumper cap for a 3rd gen so it shouldnt cost too much for shipping just for that piece.

Generally, they charge a little more then if you were to buy online and pay for shipping, and most times, it takes a few weeks to come in with regular stock, unless for some reason they have it locally. I have bought smaller, cheap stuff from the local dealer if I am not in a rush, but for service items that i can wait for (filters, etc.), i just shop online for the best price. I have also bought my bed mat from the dealer because even if it was $20-40 more then online sites, the shipping would have killed me.

Yeah, taking advantage of stock orders, can make a local dealer competitive.
Doesn't hurt to support local businesses every once in a while either.

I bought my LB Bet Mat on Amazon for $75 + $10 shipping.
Far cheaper than the $130 my stealership was charging.

Also the Jones Act adds on to the cost of shipping things out here.

You have the same problem as us here in Hawaii, being in Guam. May be even worse.

Look in craigslist and Facebook marketplace. I've seen whole bumper assembly for sale pop up.
You'll be surprised what Amazon ships to Hawaii.
If you find on Ebay, ask for surface freight.
Most companies ship via FEDEX or UPS using 2nd Day Air and that's why its expensive. They don't know there's also Ground Shipping to Hawaii.
