Who shipped your auto? Car shipper recommendation needed

Has anyone used a car transport shipping company to ship a vehicle long distance in the US? I need to ship my kid's car across the US and thought I would ask here. thanks!

 

In for the same recommendation as well as for motorcycles.

 

Most of the “companies” just put you in touch with a hauler and take a commission.

 

This is how I purchased my current 2020 DCLB.
I knew what I wanted, including color, and she had under 8,000 miles on her, so she was exactly what I was looking for.

The truck was located in TX, and there was no way I had the time or desire to drive to TX and pick her up, so I had her delivered live sight unseen.
It all worked out well in the end.

I used SGT Transport, a smaller operation that seemed to have quite a few good reviews at the time.
As stated, they are a smaller operation VS some other transport companies I found, so there were a couple unexpected weather delays, but overall a pretty decent experience.

I shipped from a dealership in Garland TX, to Omaha NE, about 660-something miles nearly due north, and at the beginning of 2022 it ran me just under $800.

I've heard mixed reviews about transport companies. Seem to come up with a lot of excuses and bump out the delivery date. Reliable Carriers is a big name in AZ. Haven't used them though.

Maybe drop an AirTag in the car and notify insurance while you're at it.

 

Get ready to be stressed out. I have had two vehicles shipped. Both were purchased on Ebay. One back in 2015 and the other in 2017. Both times I notified my insurance company and provided them pictures of the vehicles before they were shipped.

The first time I used Montway Auto Transport. My only two problems were that the truck arrived extremely dirty, like they took it off roading and I didnt have good communication about when my exact delivery date would be. Again, this was back in 2015 so I am not sure what the company is like now.

The second time the seller recommended a shipper that they use. They gave me decent price but what they didnt tell me is that they sub contracted the job to a small independent shipper. The vehicle arrived on one of those fifth wheel three car trailers towed by a Dodge with some company sign taped to the back window. While off loading the car he scraped the bottom of the front bumper and then told me it was like that when he picked it up. Ok, sure it was.

I did know someone who used Reliable Carriers. They bought a classic car and had it shipped enclosed. Car showed up on time and in perfect condition. They did pay almost 3K to go from Kentucky to Nevada but this was in 2018 so Im sure prices are way more now.

 

I was about to sign up for SGT, but I couldn’t understand the guy on the line. I went with Easy Auto so we’ll see. My ship is next month so I’ll update you then.

 

Anyone on here use InnerCityLines? They do enclosed carrier so it's pricey but after reading other people's car/truck transport experiences, the $ might be worth it if they get the job done without all the headaches. Got a quote from them when I bought the Taco from a PA dealership back in '22 to get her home to AZ but the wait time was over a month back then. I might be moving to SC, I don't think I can do that cross country drive again.

 

I shipped my Subaru from VA to SoCal today and used these folks. I called them in December, and they were able to get a shipper a couple of days ahead of time. I’ll post a follow-up when it gets delivered to its final destination.

Alright… here’s my story.

Corporate relocation from west palm beach FL to Phoenix AZ. We drove the Tacoma out across 4 days, 2400 miles. Relo company, BlueStar in my above post, arranged a great outfit. They picked up the 04 S2000 (he used additional ramps to not scratch front lip) and 17 Macan GTS on Monday 1/15 and delivered them Thursday, 1/18. Cars were in an enclosed trailer along with some other nice rides including a Porsche, Ferrari, etc.

Zero issues, zero scratches, zero complaints at all. I had AirTags in them and they sporadically updated across FL, TX, NM, etc. My wife gave him a $100 at loading and I gave him the same upon drop off. The contact info is Oramas, 561-563-6659. He is out of Miami (Cuban) and knows what he is doing. 11/10 would use him again. And the cars were spotless, no dirt.

I have zero idea on cost because work is covering it all.

Funny story I had a station wagon shipped from Oklahoma to Texas It arrived on time and perfect when I was looking inside car there was a white paper bag under seat It read StarBuds I opened bag there was some legal store bought weed with a receipt they stashed under the seat it is illegal in Texas I guess they were relaxed and forgot about it. I got rid of it did not make a fuss about it just laughed it off

 

The auto-ship went great. The carrier had an eight-car trailer, and it was delivered a week after pickup from VA to CA. Easy Auto Ship was the firm out of Ohio.

Back in 2020, I bought a car sight unseen as I wasn't able to get a flight out during covid.

Contacted several transport brokers cause I wanted enclosed transport for a single car as I didn't want it to be unloaded constantly for other deliveries.

Went with the first one that got back to me with a proper quote, which also turned out to be the least expensive (Elite Transport)

No issues and they actually showed up a day early
