Who else is enjoying the cabin life?

After living & working in crime infested & corrupt Baltimore living the secluded cabin life is Heaven on Earth to me. Nothing better than living in the mountains far from civilization with trails to ride, river to fish and plenty of wildlife to enjoy. Nothing beats the beautiful outdoors.

Fire Dept doesnt pay me enough to live off the grid. Kudos though, stay safe out there brother.

 

I wouldn't say I'm off the grid, im remote. I have electric, cac, ect... all the comforts but secluded. Fortunately here in WV property is cheap. I bought this cabin with electric, well & septic in 2017 for $95k. I'm on 21acres. Last year I moved here full time. I sold my Baltimore house and paid off the cabin. Wife & I are now living debt free. We went from paying 3 mortgages to no mortgage. I'm 49yo and this is the best I've ever felt, no mortgages means no stress for me.

 

@$500 hoping to do the same thing when I retire. I go in The Bronx every day and can't wait to not come to this city ever again. Looking at The Adirondacks or Tug Hill region of NY or maybe get out of New Yorkistan altogether and go to New Hampshire where there's a lot more freedom.

That's why I left Maryland and moved to WV, freedom. WV is a 2nd Ammendment state so I can carry, only the criminals carried in Baltimore. And here in WV I can use my SxS for street use. It's all unrestricted land up here, total freedom. No stress, no traffic, none of that city noise. Both towns at the bottom of each side of the mountain that I live on neither town has a traffic light lol.

 

Anything away from city life is the good life. Lol

 

You are super fortunate, you are living the dream. Out of curiosity what do you and your wife do for a living that allowed you to leave shithole Baltimore and live in Gods country?

 

I was a auto technician, 27years at the same shop. My wife was a medical lab technician. She still works for the same practice but remotely from the cabin now.

 

Pic of my other cabin up the road from me that my dad & I bought this past March. It's on 8acres with full utilities but it needs some work. A old coworker of mine sold it to us for cheap. With some tree work it will have a river & mountain view.

 

When one grows up living like that it takes one trip into a city to remember just how good I have things.

Although the skunk encounters are getting old I think it has been 6 times now.

 

I got a 1940 Sears and Roebuck cabin. All logs are Eastern White Cedar through and through. Live in it year round
