Who here has used maxlife atf in there trans? Looking to do 5-6 pan drains and refills but dont like the price tag on toyota WS! Hows the valvoline run in the 2nd gens? I ran it in my 04 tacoma no problem and it loved the stuff. Any reason to not do the same in my new to me 2nd gen?

I used it on my truck, no problems so far, don't do the drain and fill ordeal, just let the transmission pump out 3 quarts then pump back in 3 quarts using a garden pump sprayer through the cooler lines. Do it until you flush out 12-13quarts.

This way you get all the old stuff out. There's an entire thread about this somewhere.

So far it feels no different from the Toyota WS that was already in there. Been a little over 15k miles since I've done the switch. Going to try Amsoil ATF next time around once I hit 100k miles, which is a long while away, but I wouldn't mind sticking with the Maxlife. It's good stuff.

Used it in all three of my Toyotas.... 07 Tacoma, 09 Tundra, and 02 Tundra (first two have 5spd auto and the 02 has 4spd). No problems at all.

I have it in all my Toyota products, including the Lexus. The Camry and Corolla call for Type IV; the Taco and Lexus for WS. On the Taco and Lexus, 1st flush was with WS; 2nd with MaxLife. About to do anonther MaxLife flush on the Lexus. I used a Milescraft # 1313 drill pump and the IR temp gun method to set the proper fill level.

Did mine last fall w/Amsoil, only because getting the Maxlife synthetic up here costs as much, if not more.

So far it shifts smoother & I can barely feel the torque converter lockup bump now.

Just testimony on doing it, if one of you wants to post me Maxlife Synthetic, I'll gladly do a comparison :canada:

Definitely going with maxlife for the tanny and PS system! Not sure why anyone would use the WS fluid over Maxlife unless they are still under a warranty

If you have over 100K, consider replacing the ATF filter. Because it's a wire mesh type, some folks clean it with mineral spirits. For $30, I just replaced it with a Wix ATF filter when I did the 2nd blush, at about 120K.
