Damn….now I have to buy something else for my truck. I thought I was done when I installed the 4 windows auto up/down switch kit last month.

For the 12V system with the single button. If you tap the button once, it locks the truck. If you tap the button twice fast, it unlocks the truck. If you hold the button for 5 seconds it will play a chime and start your car. The chime lets you know it has started. While running, If you hold the button for 5 seconds again, it will turn off and play a different chime.

The only issue with my 12V system is that now the remotes do not play the Chime when it is started or turned off with my remote.

I have to say, the regular 12Volt range is pretty amazing. I can be in the back of the food store, be parked in the back of the parking lot, and still start my truck.

Also with the 12V system, you can pull into a store parking lot, hold the button for 5 seconds with it in the ignition, pull the key out, and the truck will STAY running. You can lock the doors and go into Home Depot with the truck running and locked. If it is running and still unlocked and someone tried to get in to steal it, once they press the brake pedal to disengage park, it will realize your key is not in the ignition and kill all vehicle power. Im not sure if Accesorides has this function.

Thanks, I don't know if it is due to my Total Tech membership or not. But when I followed your link it came up at $249 and then when I logged in, I was able to purchase for $139 +/-. Thanks for the link. That's an incredible deal when just yesterday I couldn't find it for less than $349. Thanks for the hook up!

Thanks for all of the help! I think I will go with a Best Buy option for now, as I'm still a beginner when it comes to wiring.... Props to Raylo for tackling that!

One thing I will say about Best Buy (and other installers) is that they are like a box of chocolates.... you won't know what you got until you live with the vehicle for awhile. I had two previous DEI Clifford installs done for me, one by Circuit City on a 1994 Z28 (manual trans so no remote start, just alarm) and later by Best Buy on a used Chevy S10 pickup with auto trans. The guy that did the Camaro did a great job and that system was still working when I sold the car in 2016.

The S10 truck got an alarm and remote start. I could tell the guy was struggling with it and it took too long for him to do the job, but it worked. A couple years later my truck's battery was draining, and I noticed that the brake lights were always on, even when parked with the engine off. By then DEI had dropped Best Buy as an authorized dealer so the "lifetime" install guarantee was vaporware. I had to totally rip the thing out myself to restore the truck to normal function.

If I were you, I'd ask around and try to talk to some of their other customers about the reliability of their installs before you take that plunge. These are pretty invasive installations and can create quite a mess if not done right.

Went into the store on Friday and it was $319. Checked when I got home and it was $319 on line. Today it's back to $229 and they have a 2 way for $249 reduced from $449. Model CS4905S-KIT Price good for 11 hours. Have to read up on that model and act quick. Any body have experience with that model? Installation included.

That's pretty much the kit I have in my Tacoma, and VW, only I added Drone to them. No issues so far. I've had the VW one for a little over a year now.

Sounds like a good move, but consider that they may charge you as much as $150 to install. All good until you consider that a year's total tech membership cost $200 and not only makes the price drop by $100 plus. It also makes the installation free. Not only for the remote start but anything you buy for the next 12 months.

[IMG] The one I ordered was the 2nd in the lineup from their flagship. It is the two-way model that lists for like $469. Best Buy Model: CS4905S-KIT SKU:6269220. With my Total Tech membership, the installation is free. The price that came up when I followed the link came up at the sell price of $229 +/-. When I logged in to my Total Tech account to buy the unit. The price dropped to like $135.00. I actually had $15 in rewards money so I was all in at about $135 installation Included. Total Tech is worth it in most cases. Here it gave me back more than it's cost in this one transaction.

I just ordered the Accessorides 2 way kit from their website. I’ve been wanting a remote start since my work provided Ford Escape had it and as an outside parked vehicle next to my Tacoma, spending this money is justified in my mind. Having a warm vehicle to walk out and get in is worth it.

I added it when I had a viper alarm installed. No complaints. Works well. Took it to a good shop. All connections were soldered and wrapped in tape. looks just like a factory install. Real nice on cold days.

2 years with 12V system. Range is great when you need it. One remote with chime feedback, one remote without (aka spare). With winter here, it is one of the few things that keeps things bearable.

I just ordered my Accessorides 2 way kit. They went on sale today, I ended up ordering the 12volt one initially, but it didn't work out of the box(module they sent appeared to be dead), plus I wasn't a big fan of the remote and returned it.

Compustar 4905S-kit from Best Buy. Loving it, and it is expandable to cover many add-on features. Up to 3000 feet range. If you are a Total tech member at BB you can have the kit for LIKE $135 installed. Part # CS49059-KIT Don't let the cheep price concern you. This kit is usually just under $500.
