    Hey all,
I've had this noise for as long as I remember on my 22 sr5 (bought truck new). In mostly 2nd & 3rd gear around 2500 - 3k rpms, I get this whistle (almost sounds like a turbo) when moderately accelerating coming from engine bay. After around 3k rpms it stops even when continuing acceleration. I have no loss of power or any other issues that seem to be prominent and I can continuously replicate it, especially when in manual mode. I don't think it has anything to do with the A/C since I have it off when this happens and It's really only loud enough to hear when the windows are down. Anyone else have this sound?

Edit: I forgot to add that I cannot recreate the sound when I rev the engine in park or neutral. ONLY when driving.

Check the clamps on your engine air intake tubes - esp at the filter housing and before the MAF.

Mine sounded like that after the dealer forgot to close the air box correctly. My truck sounded like a g35 for a day.

    Could it be diff whine?

Sounds like it's coming from engine bay, not sure if the diff would be the cause in that case? Sounds more like a high pitched whistle sound than a whine.

Seems like it's closed correctly. I even took it off and re-clamped it.

Could be that what you are hearing is the A/C expansion valve and evaporator charging when the A/C kicks on. That is a complaint that others have posted for 3rd gens.

Not postitive. But It seems that the issue is directly correlated with rpms and acceleration. Maybe something to do with the transmission?

I have searched far and wide for another thread on multiple websites and haven't found anyone else yet with this! I'm going to try and get a video so we can compare. It sounds like a high frequency whistle right? Not a howl?

Yeah you're probably right on that then. Good luck figuring it out, stuff like that is infuriating

Do you have any stereo mods? I've had pretty bad alternator whine in other trucks that was exactly as you describe.

Hey folks, just coming across this thread. I'm having a similar issue in my '17. Were y'all able to figure out a solution?
