Which way seat belt buckles face?

On my drivers side the buckle faces out. Passenger side in. Which is correct.

 

Driver's side way

 

The buckle should be facing in, 1st picture. Facing out would put a twist in the belt when its being used.

 

And rub the plastic trim on the B post.

 

Buckle out.

Mine doesn't get twists in it. Facing in puts a twist on it.

 

mine is set up just like yours, id love to know a simple way to fix it.

 

Facing in it pulls straight across you to the latch.

 

But then the belt would be in the way, so you'd have to twist it.

 

Put a half twist on the strap, fold flat, pull the buckle past the fold.

 

Drivers side is the way mine are. I hate the buckle towards the door!! Irritates me!!

 

This is confusing as to what is in and what is out. So I took 2 more pictures of just the drivers side, which I call facing out. The buckle faces out on the drivers side.


I sometimes do get a twist when I unbuckle the drivers side. That is why I wonder if I should have the buckle facing in like the passenger side.

 

Driver's side is correct.
It'll twist if you just throw it off without allowing it to retract.

 

If yore sitting in the vehicle and see the shiny side, its facing in and is correct. If younsee the back side and the buckle itself is between the 2 layers of belt, its incorrect. The belt when used should lay flat, no twists anywhere.

A twist across your body will cut down on the surface area to spread pressure in a wreck. That small point *can* cause more injury than having the pressure spread over a larger area.

 

What are these seat belts you speak of ?

 

I think the confusion is everyone has a different meaning of in and out

When I said out I was meaning you should see it outside the belt, shiny out.
