Hi everyone, I'm new here. I'm about to buy a new Tacoma, but not sure which trim level to get. I was thinking limited with leather and moonroof, but I've read that they dont ride very good. Maybe TRD offroad, I would like 4-wheel drive, but not a deal breaker, and they obviously get worse gas mileage. I want a good ride, with good gas mileage. Any help is much appreciated.

Best bet is to test drive every trim.

That's a complicated question, that completely depends on you, and the use of your truck.

TW is a mostly offroad enthusiast forum, so most will say the TRD offroad, as it is the best value for the offroad performance you get.

If you plan to heavily modify, an SR5 may be best for you.

I don't recommend a Limmited. Comes with a lot of chrome, with very few added features, for a very expensive price tag. It used to be the only trim, aside from the Pro, with leather. Leather is now an option on the other models.

I HIGHLY recommend 4x4, as getting a 2WD Tacoma is a common regret around here.

I put 130 miles on my TRD 4x4 Offroad today, mostly highway, and averaged ~19mpg. If MPGs are that critical for you, maybe Tacoma isn't your best choice?

I never regretted a 2WD and I don't whine and complain about MPG's like all the 4WD's do on this site as I get great gas mileage . Just check out all the threads and you will see a common complaint.

Fair. As I said, comes down to intended use.

If you live in FL, 4x4 probably is easier to live without... vs CO.

Low 20's in highway likely if 4x4 v6. The 4 is a bit better. 2wd with 4 is why bother unless you only need it to haul crap from Lowe's.

Don't really need 4wd, but would like the best resale value. But also want the best gas mileage also, lol.

Create a list of your requirements. V6 or I4. 2WD or 4X4. Automatic or Manual. Sunroof? Leather? etc.
Then look at the different trims and compare them to your budget.
For me, V6/Auto DCSB 4X4. Wanted to be around 30K. I got my SR5 for 31K. No regrets.

    Welcome to TW ! :hattip:

I would say trd OR is the best bang for the buck. It rides quite nice both on and off road.
Has rear locker, crawl control and multi terrain select. If you get auto its not bad on gas with stock wheel size. Manual a bit worse on gas due to lower rear diff ratio. You can get premium and tech package and you will have leather.

Good luck! You wont be dissapointed in any trim level, just depends on your lifestyle.
