kicker comp 10 box gets my vote simply because it's one of the only passive radiator boxes on the market.

I've been pleased thus far with a Skar Audio box and Kicker Comp RT at 400W RMS.

Before the Kicker I was running the pre-loaded Pioneer TS-A2500LB at 300W RMS.

I then bought the Skar Audio enclosure to try with the Pioneer. Didn't dig as deep as the Kicker does.

Tried these two because I don't want to remove/alter interior panels at the moment.

So i literally had both for the same reason as you - I wanted something that would fit in the storage bin. I originally had the Kicker sub. It does not fit without modifications. You can jam it in, but you will damage the bin and your subwoofer cone will be hitting and vibrating directly onto the edge of the bin. Or you can cut the bin. It would fit, except the sub protrudes. I also found the bass pretty weak, to be honest. I now have the Skar box with the RF Punch 3 shallow (the 2 ohm DVC wired in series at 4 ohm), and I am running 400W to it. I am very happy with it, considering the small size and shallowness of the sub. It hits pretty loud and hard - significantly more than the Kicker with the same amperage supplied. If you have the $, the JL Stealthbox is probably awesome, but my setup was about $320 (so a third of the JL). The Punch 3 also seems to me to be of higher quality materials and more solid than the Kicker.

edit: I will also add that the Skar box, somewhat to my amazement, fit perfectly. The only potential issue here is, again, the sub. The P3 fit fine - just make sure the little "RF" symbol is down, not up (like I did the first time) as it will damage the bottom of the seat. But the ring will fit fine. A grill might hit the seat bottom or the bin.

I have the kicker comp8 box, instead of 10. The shop that installed mine didn't recommend the 10" sub because it won't fit in the bin. I am pleased with the quality of the bass sound though. If money was not a concern, I would go with the Skar box and install JL Audio 10" just because I know the sound quality would be better (my assumption).

I had the kicker 10” but sold it. Was not to my liking. You don’t need to modify your bin if you just remove it completely. That way if you remove the sub later to sell the truck it won’t look hacked. Sits pretty much perfect under the child restraint hooks.

Do you have an update on this? I'm interested in the amount of mods needed to make it fit for you, and how it sounds.

Yep, had to cut out the front piece of the storage bin and removed the plastic piece on the back side of the seat....added the Kicker grill and theres plenty of room and the sub sounds fantastic....very pleased

I am looking to install a sub in my 2017 double cab. I know nothing about audio. Mine has the non JBL sound system. Do I just need the Skar box, RF Punch 3 shallow, and an amp (which one?).

I didn’t have to do anything but slide the skar box in , you don’t have to use a Rockford sub . Just make sure whatever you get is a shallow for that box. As far as amp that’s up to you too. Just be sure it matches your sub.

Here's my complete build list as I have it planned.
    • I’m keeping the factory Head Unit - $0
    • I’m keeping the stock speaker wiring - $0
    • Upgraded Speakers installed previously
      • Infinity Reference 6x9’ 2-way coaxails in front - $103.95
      • Infinity Reference 3.5 2-way coaxials in rear - $79.95
      • Infinity Kappa Tweeters - $129.95
    • Soundproofing from Kilmat - $55
    • Skar Box for the Subwoofer - $149
    • Subwoofer: Kicker 48CWRT104 at 4 ohms - $170 (Crutchfield rep recommended this sub instead of the 2ohm Kicker to match the amp)
    • DSP Amplifier: Audiocontrol D-5.1300 - $899
      • Bluetooth Audio Adapter: AC-BT24 - $139
      • Bass Volume Knob: ACR-3 - $45
    • Crutchfield Harness: PAC LPHTY02 LocPro Advanced T-Harness - $59
    • Crutchfield Speaker wire: CSW9W-20 - $24.99
    • SKAR Audio OFC 4 Guage Amp Wiring Kit - $65
All in my system will have run at least $2,117. The Audiocontrol D-5.1300 is on sale now at Crutchfield for $400 off. Skar has everything on sale 15% off.

I went with the Infinities because I had them in the past and loved the quality of the sound in my car. That said, if I had to do it all over again I'd pick a component set for the front stage.

I'm also considering a used Audiocontrol D-5.1300 I found on Marketplace for $550. Once I get everything purchased and installed, I'll report back to the community.
