    Hey everyone,

I am in the market for some new tires, and I have decided to go with the hybrid for obvious reasons. However, I don't know which to go with? I am in between the Toyo Open Country R/T and the Nitto Ridge Grappler. What do you prefer? What have you tried?

    Thanks!

Also check out Goodyears DuraTracs and Coopers St Maxx. They get good reps here on the site.

I have Goodyear Duratracs and love them. I haven't had them in deep mud. Lots of soft sand around here and they do awesome.

Dura tracs are awesome tires. My girlfriend had them on her 4runner and i wish i got them instead of my BFGs. They grab way better in soft sand, snow, and loose dirt

Don't get the Toyo R/T's. I know of at least 3 people who have them/had them and hate them. One friend said they are the worst "traction" tires he's ever run in the snow. I have heard good things about the Ridge Grapplers. People around here do seem to like the Dutratracs or Goodyear Authoritys (basically the same tire). I have Cooper St Maxx's and while I think they are a great tire they haven't lasted as long as I expected.

Thank you for the reply! I am stationed in CO, so I need a tire that can handle the snow! I am leaning towards the Grapplers, but Duratracs have been popular as a great hybrid tire as well.

I can say my S/T Maxx grip snow and some ice well. I had no trouble after a freezing rain getting up my hilly streets

ST maxx are awesome. I hardly ever have my truck in 4X4 in snow now.

I have gone from goodyears to KM2's to KO's and now KO2's. By far my favorite tire has been the KO2's. The KO2's are a little heavy but they are tough as nails and heads above the KO's they replaced. I only got around 15K on the KO's before a road hazard gashed one to the belts and BFG made me a hell of a deal on the KO2's "100$" a piece to upgrade. I have around 20K on the KO2's and at this rate should get around 55-60 out of them. I like the dura tracs but they are definitely a soft rubber compound and sidewalls are a little lacking imo.

Another tire I have experience with is the dick cepek fun country. They are a solid tire as well in a good price category. The cepek is made on the same carcass as the cooper st maxx. Made by cooper tires.
