    That would be my concern on my 4x2 SR5. The most adventurous I get is going down some caliche roads every now and then that may be rutted. So whaddaya say about a Fumoto valve for me, yeay or nay?

    I forgot to report back on this. I tried it a second time and it also went right in. I really have no clue why I was having issues the first time hahah.. I must have been hitting it at an angle

    I installed the one with the longer nipple and it tucked in under the skid plate nicely.

    Certain applications the Fumoto valves are almost a necessity on aluminum pans, even with proper crush washer/torque they want to pull threads. This really is not a concern with the Tacoma, Unless the threads were previously over-torqued or cross threaded. Follow the recommended procedure of a fresh washer and correct torque and you will never have an issue.

    I like it. If I were presented this prior to selecting the Fumoto I’m not sure I still wouldn’t have chosen the Fumoto.

    I, like you, don’t care about any additional minutes it may take me to drain. What I don’t prefer with the Femco plug is 1) the thread design, and 2) the need to use the threaded on hose.

    Threads are susceptible to contamination and possibly make the connection more difficult down the road with increased contamination and rust(?). With the Fumoto I don’t even need a tube to drain. I can just turn the ball valve on or off and be done with it. The Fumoto provides more control of how much is coming out if I wanted to lower my oil level for whatever reason.

    Thanks for sharing. If clearance really is an issue this is even better. Both are great.

    No regrets, and no weak point IMO. It may slow draining the oil a tiny bit, but the recommended oil in these trucks is really thin and came out almost too fast with factory drain plug.

    I'd love to hear more about this guy from people that have it. Looks like the low profile is nice, plus it doesn't look as goofy as the fumoto... but I did hear from a yter that there is oil in the cap so it needs to be tight. I find this a bit worrisome. If it's just a bit fine but I don't think I'd trust the cap to hold major leaking. Would love to hear more from people that have this on their tacomas

    My only concern with both the Fumoto and Femco valve is over torqueing it when installing it and it breaking.

    I think you would damage the pan before the valve in that case.

    I have that concern too. Is there a way to tell how much torque you need on the ratchet? for example if the oil valve instruction say you need to torque it down to 18 footpounds how would you measure that on your ratchet or whatever tool you're using to tighten it down?

    A torque wrench is is used to set and determine exact torque but you don’t need it at all. Screw it in just like you would your drain plug. You will be perfectly fine.

    I wouldn't know lol I'm a noob with all this and usually get it serviced. This will be the first time I'll do it myself and given how tight the oem drain plug is atm I didn't think the shop guys were just merely hand tightening it.

    Unless you're an absolute hack this shouldn't happen. Just get it nice and snug. Or.... Just use a torque wrench.

    As long as you don't go hulk with a rattle gun or a beaker bar you'll be good.
