Splicing for a camper light. There’s two wires, a red/green and an all green. Which one is the hot one I splice into.

I’ve tried both already none work

Did you have the brake light on when you were testing them? Dumb question, but I gotta ask.

Also, do yourself a favor and dont use those little no splice suitcase style connectors. Those things shouldve never been invented and may be the root of your issue. Find out what wire it is and use a proper butt splice/crimp connector.

What Blue92 said. Get rid of those connectors. They are garbage. You want to tap into the green with the red stripe wire.

When my dad had his frame replaced, we couldnt figure out why his aftermarket backup cam wasnt working. The dealer used those suitcase connectors, no power was going through them unless you held the wire a certain way. Replaced with butt splices and its been good to go.

I confirm that they are garbage made for made for electric shops to f-up your truck very fast. Every electric shops (including dealers) love them because you will be back for repairs as soon as their warranty expires. And by the way even electric shops should not use them in outside wiring (and because they are garbage they should not be used inside either).

By the way the best way to splice into tail lamp is to pull the flat spade contact from the connector, cut it out and put an new flat spade contact where you can crimp two wires: the original one and your new wire. The most elegant solution IMHO.

The green with the red stripe is the one I used to get it to work.

We ran power from a battery charger to the light to see if it worked - it did not. Came off a used camper, the light was sun bleached white. Going to replace it with a $40 one online
