hello, i am looking to replace my windshield on my 03 Tacoma and cant find any information on where i can get the black molding that goes around the windshield, looks to be discontinued. i have the part number 75531-04010 which is the cold climate spec molding but no luck finding it. is there any aftermarket equivalent that's reputable?

I have that gasket- OEM, I’ll part with, but I had an issue where Safelite said they couldn’t install it. Did you find an installer who said they’d install it on a new windshield?

I have no doubt the people at Safelite were incompetent, but 2 separate places refused to use it, the second of which tried to explain why, basically stating it was over their heads

The last 2 windshields installed on my Tacoma used a universal molding. Every Tacoma I've seen over the years with a replacement windshield has had the universal molding.

What is the difference between cold climate and not?

This shows as being the equivalent to that part # https://www.dkhardware.com/precisio...99-rc-windshield-molding-product-4892558.html

If you purchase and use it during the windshield install, please post up. I will need to have my windshield replaced in the near future and might go with that OE style depending on feedback.

that's interesting how no one would touch it, especially safelite. I've done a few windshields and plan on doing the install myself. The only issue i could see is installing those 2 little foam blocks at the bottom of the windshield.

What are the details of the foam blocks? I've had 2 windshields installed on my 02, the first install was followed by rust forming within a couple years. The second was installed after the body shop took care of the rust and along with prep and paint. After that windshield install my dash rattles like crazy and the A pillar trim rubs....it now also has a half circle crack in the bottom corner. I need to find a competent installer, but also one that will do it like factory.

Yes, it's more of a weather thing. It was more common on trucks bound for northern states but was also tacked on other trim levels/option packages.

The only details i have about the foam blocks is that there are 2 different styles of them with separate part numbers being 56116-24010 & 56116-35030. I currently have 2 of each and part number 56116-35030 is taller and wider then 56116-24010. I believe its a similar story to the molding? ones specific to cold climate, but I'm not sure on that. Also something else I'm not sure on is how many you need, i bought 2 of each because my assumption is that you need 1 on each corner of the bottom of the windshield.

I'm pretty sure i read a thread on here with a guy that had a similar issue to yours and the foam blocks were brung up.

I guess that is also not something that would necessarily be on window sticker either. Nothing like that is on my window sticker. I'll have to do a little more research to see how I might know if I also have the HD starter and wiper motor.

Yeah, not listed on mine, but mine is an '02. Maybe it became standard? Or maybe just that molding became standard. The only part of it that I can say with 100% certainty that my truck came with, is the windshield molding w/rain channel. Not sure how to ID the rest of it.

Totally agree with this. There seems to be quite a bit of "overlap" with 1st gen option packages. For example, just try to nail down why some trucks got the heavy duty "green hub fan clutch" before the "Towing package" became a factory option in the later years.
