I'm new here and looked around for this answer and didn't see it glaringly obvious anywhere.

So, I have a Gen 3. and it's about 5k miles. I'm looking to do my oil change, but where should I buy the oil filters?

I was thinking Amazon, but are there specific sellers anyone uses frequently?

    I appreciate help!

I don't think the 3rd gen uses a filter, I think it is a canister that you clean.

I just go to the dealer, about $7.50 after tax. I went to a local AutoZone and they were $11.49 before tax. Amazon is known for knockoff shit, and I doubt much cheaper than $7.50, but haven’t checked in a while.
At $7.50 each, I can make and/or save much more money investing my time elsewhere.

Not sure if it’ll help, but should I need warranty work down the road, I have some semi proof of oil changes, since I buy the filters from the dealer.

it is a canister, with a disposable filter inside. Nice setup too, just toss the cheap element and you’re gtg.

i get mine at walmart. there are videos to detect fakes and they have passed every time. i usually buy a few at a time so i have not checked prices
in a while. last i recall they were about $7 each.
just checked. pretty sure this is it:

edit: same as Chew. keep rcpts for filters and oil in case have to show for serious warranty issue.

WIX at O'Reilly's. No engine issues.

Look at Motixv oil-change adapter (https://www.motivxtools.com) and Fumoto oil plug replacement (https://www.fumotousa.com). Fumoto controls the fast flow of hot oil into the drain pan, the Mtivx tool grabs the filter outer-housing at its strongest point to easily pull the outer-housing.

Since I moved, Toyota dealership is as convenient as O'Reilly's ... might stop there before 3k more rolls around.

I trade with a local dealer that offers free pick-up at the counter for on-line/web orders. Better price than if you just walk in cold and pay cash/card. I don't understand the logic, but it works for me. (and them obviously) I saved $40 on a new tail-lamp doing this and had it next day.

I got my third bed-rail that way at a dealer that is further away than the local dealer. I walked in but mentioned the online price ... the counterman was pleasantly accommodating. The difference in price for the longer drive VS local dealer will likely be the same or less than the extra gas.

But thanks for the reminder anyway.

EDIT: $5.97 discounted to $4.46 for online. Would not be a bad route for other parts ... oil filter housing with tow package $179.29 discounted to $134.74.
