When driving, my dash reading always seems low by maybe 10-15 degrees.

I only have about 200 miles on the truck so far, but my truck is parked in a garage, and the temperature readout does seem to be right for the garage temperature, but it seems to hold there for at least the first 5-10 minutes of driving. After that it goes up maybe 1 or 2 degrees, but not much beyond that when it should be 10-15 degrees higher for the outdoor temperature.

Thanks caribe. I figured I might at least inspect it and unplug-replug it to see if anything changes.

In general do you all find the outside temperature reading in your dash display reflects the outside temp within seconds of hitting the road on a hot day, after parked in a relatively cool garage?
Or is what I'm seeing common and there's a long lag time? I've driven mostly short trips so far (it's not a daily driver, it's just mainly for hauling fairly short distances) and maybe I just haven't run it long enough for it to reach true outdoor temperature?

I have never timed it, but I would guess usually changed within 30 sec to a minute. Seems reasonable.

I have noticed it takes 3 to 5 minutes to normalize, especially if it has been in the sun for a bit.

Mine takes a couple minutes to adjust from garage temp to outside temp. I find it pretty accurate, usually within a degree or two (Celsius) of posted temps when driving around

Thanks for the replies. I guess this says I do have an issue of some kind since mine is not behaving "normally." Not worth spending time at the dealer just for this, but eventually I'll have to have it looked at. I don't have a code reader but I wonder if any error codes might be readable (I dunno..."outside temp sensor intermittent" or something like that)?

Anyone know if there's a resolution for this?

Mine just started exhibiting this same behavior.

    Bringing this old thread back.

It was 95 today AC was struggling and the temperature on my display was stuck at 75 "garage temperature" for like an hour before it finally toped out at 85. The gauge was super accurate and fast until recently, now it takes forever to sense any change in temperature.

Any good source for a quality temperature sensor? apparently the OEM a piece of junk, my truck is not even a year old yet.

20240621_061310.jpg No worries I ordered a new one. 30 bucks, cheaper than spending a day at the dealership.

Let us know if that solves the problem. I'm having the same issue. I thought I was going crazy, thinking "there's no way it's been exactly 75 degrees out for the last two hours".

    Also what's the part number?

Maybe I need a new one. It works, but it's delayed longer than it used to be when the truck was new.

Yeah it should get up or down to the correct temperature in about 10 minutes, not two hours.
