More than my wife knows about....
I have a 2016 and I'm just starting to run my A/C for the first time since Oct. The four front vents from left to right are running cold to lukewarm with each vent getting al little warmer the farther to the passenger side you go. So the coldest is the drivers left and the warmest is the passenger right....

I took the truck in and had the system checked at a dealer hoping that they would have seen this issue and been able to diagnose and repair easy. I don't have a trusted shop to go to so I have to hop that the dealer will do a good enough job. No leaks, but because its r1234yf its $500 to have the system charged. I will pick up the truck in a bit, but Im thinking that the whole ordeal might be due to the Blend Actuator/Damper Servo Sub Assembly. Now my question. Where is this located in a gen3? Same place as the gen2? Under the glove box area or behind it? LMK if you have any input or experience with this and thanks!

I take it you have the automatic A/C?

    MANUAL A/C

You can run a diagnostic on your Auto A/C...

I don't see how it's possible to have your symptoms in a manual A/C since there's only the one blend door for the front A/C vents.

Did you actually verify with a thermometer the vent temps are different or are you going by “feel”??

The vents 100% are blowing cold on the far left and hot on the far right. No thermometer required for the feel test. The temp outside is 70 today and the cold vent is almost icy and the warm vent is warmer than the outside temp. Ill grab my thermometer in a bit and send numbers.

Maybe an obstruction after the blender where the duct splits off to their respective vents...
How's the airflow out of the warmer vents?

Any change in the warmer vents if you start closing colder vents?

Nope... There isn't a temp change from the coldest temp and Max A/C either. Even driving on the highway for 30 mins didn't change anything....

I'm going with low refrigerant then.

I really hope that's what it is. $500 for the service seems very steep. I know its the dealer and r1234yf is fancy, but that still seems crazy high. I also remember a mechanic once saying that these newer systems should leak at all or the refrigerant shouldn't "evaporate" in 3-4 years. So if they can't find a leak, which I was told there wasn't one found, then where did the refrigerant go?

    How did they check?
You're supposed to evacuate the system and pull a vaccuum.

No. It was still in the shop having the system recharged. It took them from 1230-1800 until they closed and a hour this am to fully charge it up. I picked it up and all the vents are ice cold! After talking to a buddy about everything I’m pretty sure that the first owner of this vehicle was in some type of accident. What may have happened is the AC could have never been fully charged or had the correct refrigerant in it. I’ll keep this updated if things change. Thanks for all the info!

    Hey,
Today I finally figured it was time to look into why my ac sucked lately. Some owner of this rig. Luckily the answer was all right here in this thread. Identical problem! I’ll post the outcome from the mechanic. My diagnostic read 00. Also found out if you hold those three buttons longer the truck will start without depressing the brake. Thanks taco peeps!

I had to add refrigerant to my ‘16 maybe a month ago. Was blowing warm and the low side was low. A small amount added and I am back in business. Bought new, zero accidents. Shouldn’t be low but it is what it is.
