Hey guys, I was wondering where I can buy authentic first gen Baja Designs Squadron SAE fog lights. I tried looking online and found a few sites but I can’t verify if they’re legit. I also debated getting the second gens but didn’t like their short light output and the fact you apparently can’t switch out the lens between amber and clear compared to the first gens. Lastly, should I not even worry about the BD fog lights and just get the Diode Dynamics SS3 fog lights instead? I really like the first gen BD fogs, but at this point I’m wondering if I should just settle with some DD fogs since I can’t seem to find the first gen BD. Thanks for your help.

I’ve not had the Baja fogs, but can say that the diode fog lights are awesome. I personally like the color of selective yellow and their ‘max’ trim ones are seriously bright.
Like I could use them as headlights and they’d be an upgrade to oem.

i'm pretty sure that neither of those facts are accurate.

on the last part, baja's site has replacement 'clear', 'baja amber', and 'factory amber' lenses available here
    https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/?page=1&cat1=lighting-lenses

main point that baja has made is that the o-ring must always be replaced with any lense, because the old o-ring will deform enough that re-use can cause an imperfect seal.

    Hey PapasTacoMia,

Technically, you can't swap lenses on either model. The issue lies in the possibility of the optics shifting, which could cause misalignment and result in a non-street-legal pattern. That said, our Gen 2 SAE significantly improved over the previous generation. While you can still swap lenses, they must be sent to our HQ for replacement. However, if you choose our Sport version, swapping lenses is no problem at all. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out directly at brahianh@bajadesigns.com.

i'm wondering if it's a matter of a different need though.

did the change to the gen 2 sae pattern make for less overall beam reach?

Gen 2 increases output has a sharper cutoff and is significantly better than Gen 1. If you need a fog light with a sharp cutoff and wish for it to be street legal, the SAE is the best route to go. If you wish for a light with more vertical and horizontal spill, our off-road version would be ideal, but it is not for on-road use.
