The Discount Tire here states they won't install a tire above OEM. Walmart the same. Aftermarket shops?

Your Discount Tire sucks. My Discount Tire installed big tires just fine.

That's interesting that your local Discount Tire/America's Tire won't install larger tires. They've been my go-to tire shop for over a decade, installing non-OEM sizes on all of my vehicles.

With that being said, a few times, they've given me a hard time about installing used tires (especially when I didn't purchase from them), but we were always able to work through it.

If they won't do it, I bet nearly any independent tire shop will.

Discount tire has always been great to me with larger tires.

You might not get a response even though you tagged them, I think they were acquired by a different company and the new company is putting less of an emphasis on social media relations. Which is a shame because they got so much business by being active here on TW.

They posted about it a while back before their departure, but I can’t remember what thread it was in.

My answer to the OP’s question… I go to an off road shop that specializes is maintence and modification of 4x4 vehicles.

How much larger than stock? I've never had an issue anywhere including Discount Tire. But I haven't gone that much bigger.

Discount Tire acquired Tire Rack(2021) and Dunn tire earlier this year. They are still the largest independent tire dealer in the country. Discount Direct now operates under Tire Rack. The drive up stores are still owned by DT.

I saw something about this. But can’t verify it. Trying to find it. Everything I see as of APRIL 2024 says DT is still independent.

Discount even has options on their website to shop plus size tires.

I'm wondering if you tried to install combine harvester size tires or something equally outrageous.

I've heard Costco has a similar policy, but it depends on the location. I know the North Scottsdale location will if you already have a larger tire installed and are replacing with the same size. I know other locations will if you bring the wheels in separate.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Costco, Walmart and Sam's Club won't mount anything but what's listed in the door jamb, corporate liability policy. It's stupid as the oversized tires may well be rated for a heavier load than the stock tires. Too bad for them, I'll take my business elsewhere.

I usually just find a locally owned and highly rated tire shop. They never give me shit. Though I had DT put 37s in my taco a couple years back. Though I was goin 37 to another 37 so that probably helped.

I read about that. Discount Tire acquired Big Brand Tire. I'm going to say it's still location dependent on whether or not they'll install larger tires.

It's a liability disclaimer, I've never seen a shop that won't do it unless its unsafe or won't fit.

If youre desperate just removing them and roll them into the shop.

I've done that when I had a second truck. When only having one that presents a problem. Kinda hard to "roll" four tires 15 miles to a shop.
