Anyone know if they will be able to retroactively add TSS 2.0 to 3rd gen's that have TSS-P? I sat in my brother's 2019 RAV4 and man do I want those lane assist features for the long drives across state lines. Anyone got the scoop on when they will add these features to the Tacoma?

This absolutely freaking hilarious. Dude there is a whole bunch of TW members who would love to burn Kiichiro Toyoda's corpse at the stake over the current TSS on the Tacoma and TMNA's handling of the recall and you want an even more complicated version of it.......

Well, it will be a 2020 thing standard most likely. I’m sure though that they can add it now to your Tacoma but be prepared to be bent over a desk with no foreplay.,

TSS is not a option from Toyota. It is added by Gulf States Toyota distribution.

Toyota safety sense we are talking about right? Or am I missing something? Cause TSS is Toyota safety features and not a regional thing.

Wrong TSS. OP is speaking of the Toyota Safety Sense. You are talking about the BS package with wheels and money maker stuff for the dealer.

2020's will actually be running Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS-P) standard, which is a generation behind 2.0. My guess is TSS 2.0 will be on the next-gen Taco, in a few years (when it's on the shared platform as the Tundra).

Lane keep assist requires electric power steering. The Tacoma is built around hydraulic power steering and it would be extremely complicated to refit the truck for the new technology. I wouldn't expect this feature to come out until the next generation.

Most likley TSS is not easily upgradable due to sensor, harness, and computing component requirements. Rest assured, new safety features will continue to be built and added year to year, including eventually full automatic driving control. Keep an eye on serious high end auto manufacture websites for the ”future” of automotive technology. Toyota is on the tail end of such automation (understandable), check out the Mercedes S class AMG features...

    https://www.mbusa.com/en/vehicles/model/s-class/sedan/s65v

Scroll down & Select Safety -> View all Safety Features -> then select one of the 42 different items to view details. You’ll see things like Pre-Safe, where the vehicle predicts a collision and automatically tightens seat belts, adjusts the seat position, rolls up windows, and closes the sunroof, all before the accident occurs... then there is Pre-Safe Sound and Pre-Safe Plus, etc., crazy as that is.

You think some “older” Tacoma drivers have a negative reaction to TSS now, just wait until Toyota (and the government regulations) catch up to current tech in a few years. Not say’n it’s good or bad, just providing some futuristic insight...

I've heard it in a video, and read it on a couple websites. 2020 Tacoma will have 2.0. Don't think there's any reason to have different software suites being updated every year, just standardize. New refreshes get the current tech. I'm assuming the new sequoia and 4runner get 2.0 also.

OP: I would highly recommend against trying, it'll probably cost you more than trading vehicles in and not fall under warranty most likely. (if current Toyota trends continue)

    Buy a RAV?

You'll get a lot better MPG for interstate runs as well.

Toyota specifically spells out "high speed" drcc. Damn. Thanks for the official link. (guess not everything you read on the internet is true)

Well, the head unit upgrade isn't enough reason for me to wait then. Now it's just up to Toyota to get their heads out their ass over this aftermarket tires recall nonsense lol.
