When will somebody figure out how to increase boost new 2.4T

    It's only a matter of time until someone figures out how to hook into the new Tacoma's ECU and turn up the turbo boost with a laptop. I know the Honda Civic tuners where able to do this with the 1.5L turbo. Voids warranty but you know it's only a matter of time before someone figures it out.
    325hp & 375 ft lbs of torque sounds good and not too much, just use it when you really need the extra power.

    Tunes for highlander 2.4s already exist so I imagine a month or two from now they’ll be out for tacomas

    I'd actually want someone to sacrifice their engine so we can know the power limit of either the engine or drivetrain.

    The MT model is detuned due to crankshaft hammering. The SR is detuned for what reason? Commercial use durability, since the SR goes to contractors, pest control, etc.? :stirthepot:

    But Subaru does the opposite and looks for tunes to deny warranty. Not sure what Chrysler does for the Hellcats/Demons.

    Subarus are a pain to tune also... each vehicle has its own limits. Anyway, I like VWs approach. Sure, you are probably going to have warranty issues if something comes up, but that doesn't happen very often. One because 3 years is a blink of the eye and other is that in the case of the 2.0, its already built to handle it so that it can be used in other higher output models. Toyota will never think like that.

    I have tuned all 3 of my VWs within their first 2500 miles or so. My 1.8T has 110,000 on it and it pulls just like day 1. The other 2 are low mileage, but without problem. To be fair, I was very close to adding some boost to my Tacoma. The DIY kits were very tempting, but some of those kits didn't stick around for very long.

    The VW/Audi 2.0 turbo engine is one of the most problematic engines they ever built even in stock form. Especially the timing chain version ones that suffer from oil consumption requiring either piston replacement or in worse case scenario short block replacement. That’s the reason for the class action lawsuit against VW/Audi of America. You can make all kinds of power if you crank up the turbo boost. They run best right before they blow.

    I have a stage 2 GTI in the driveway. It runs like a champ but does get all the maintenance on time....that and it only has 45K miles lol. Will probably be sold before it hits 65k

    BMW did this to their early 435i and 440. Got a bump of around 35 hp for $1500. I have a tuned (since 5K miles) M4 making around 600 hp and now have 190,000 miles without any engine issues. I’m hoping the tunes for the 2.4 prove to be as reliable.

    I've got twp 2.0s and 1.8. One of the 2.0s is K04'd and the 1.8 has 110,000 on it. I did clean the valve buildup on the 1.8, but other than that they all run great. Boost em and drive em hard.
