I like the stock satin alloy rims I got, and I really dislike bro-rims, but I want a slightly wider stance. My question is; should I just use spacers? What are the cons? Safety, ride quality, etc..wheel-spacers_1101-base.jpg

If you are looking to do off roading after installing your wheel spacers you should get bora or spidertrax spacers. I do not go off roading so I bought supreme suspension wheel spacers. They had a whole article about the pros and cons of wheel spacers and they knew what they were talking about. The wheel spacers I got are alum billet which is the safest and best type of wheel spacers.

Also be aware that shoving your wheels too far out can cause premature wheel bearing wear and potentially failure. Some folks get away with it just fine, but it's a known issue across all brands.

Just torque it to spec and recheck a few hundred miles later.

Don't listen to this guy. I run 1.25" spidertrax spacers with my stock wheels and 285/75/16, because fuck paying $800 or more for aftermarket wheels that I'm going to scratch up. Been wheeling with them on plenty of times and have had zero issues. Blue loctite, torque to spec, drive a 100-200 miles, retorque and you'll be fine

'Bro rims' and 'stance' sound like tomato bisque and a cheddar grilled cheese to me. :p :D

I had no issue running 1/2" spacers on the front of an '85 S10 Blazer so my killer IROC Z wheels would clear the rotors up front.

It had rear drums, just like a Tacoma.

Thanks for the Google Search Image results for "wheel spacers broken".. What I meant is that you are so far off for saying they're going to break. That statement is so invalid. You don't know if they will break or not. Many people run them without any problems at all. If you can guarantee they will break then my bad.

Yes just looks for me. Ill remove them before any offroading trips. Just a bit more aggressive . My last 2017 quicksand trd offroad i had stock wheels and spacers. 20k miles without removing them and went offroading and not a single issue

One year of 1.25" spacers plenty of off-roading and hiway driving. No vibes, no wobbles. I recheck torque every time I rotate my tires.

To touch on the "wheel spacers suck" and "wheel spacers break" thing: Sure, it's totally possible for a spacer or a stud to fail. ANY part can fail, that's just a part of life. The chance of that happening goes up dramatically with improper installation. For one, the lugs could have been either too loose or too tight which caused the problem. Cheap "ebay" wheel spacers are also unsafe because they're not built to the same standard as US made wheel spacers, and the studs aren't of a strong enough metal. Stay away from the chinese ebay spacers. If your spacers are hub centric most of the mass of your wheel and tire rest on the hub rather than the studs, but a non hub centric spacer has ALL of the weight and force directly on the studs which increases the chance of a stud failure.

OP, if you get yourself the Spidertrax or Bora spacers, install them correctly, and check the torque after 100-200 miles you'll be just fine!

Also dude here in town has 2" spacers on his fj80 running 40's. Quality spacers aren't a problem. Stupidity and laziness are problems.
