All the rims I see/want have an offset that would require spacers. I'm leery about using them as they do use up some stud length, even if its 1/2 inch.

I would really rather have some other cool looking 1st Gen rims other than my OEM's but can find anything but other OEM's.

    Opinions appreciated.

There are lots of threads on this and lots opinions. Personally I had mine on for 2 years without any issue and just took them off a week ago because I moved to a new wheel with a smaller offset. The only issue I had was "it does" tend to go through your wheel bearings a little sooner. As long as they are hub centric and a good brand loke Spidertrax or bora, IMO, they are good in the interim until you get wheels you like.

SpiderTrax or Bora only. No more than 1.25” and you’ll be fine.

I’m installing some some spidertrax today. Going a little wider tire and don’t want to give up my OEM 17s

Your northern opinions don't count. Your wheels freeze to your trucks anyway. You don't even need lug nuts. LOL...

That's a little below the belt. LOL... Come on, I mean I know they are safer than they once were but you still cannot honestly give advise that they are good. Have people done it without a problem? Sure. Are they as safe as not having them? No. Do they cause premature wear to wheel bearings and so on? Yes. Do they enhance performance? No. Hence they are bad.

I thought you northern folk were supposed to be all nice and shit. You are playing in the gray area. This was a black and white question. Are they good or bad. Simply put, they bad. I am just busting everyone's balls but for me, I would save to get a set of wheels with the proper offset OP. If you choose to run spacers I am sure you will be fine. Just be sure to rotate your tires every oil change and inspect them for cracks and proper torque. Also remember Canadian opinions carry the same exchange rate as their currency.

To be clear, this was my last Tacoma. You can modify things the correct way without taking short cuts. I still wouldn't run spacers.

Thanks for ALL your opinions. I will stick to my offset and my boring stock truck lol. I just have a hard time finding aftermarket steel or alloy rims with my OEM offset.

First off scotty kilmer is trash. He’s a YouTube whore, he’s not the end all of anything.

Use quality spacers like Bora and you’ll be fine. Ive been running them for years. Pro tip, don’t put loctite on the threads, EVER. Torque them to spec and you’ll be fine. If you want pull the wheels after a hundred miles and recheck the torque. You use loctite and you’ll never get them off again.

You knew the answer before you posted... plus who's taking advice from someone on a Tacoma site rocking a Chevy avatar @JJ Customs . I dont care if he can post photos of a Tacoma on a neighbors driveway. I kid... i personally wouldn't run them either.

All seriousness if you mall crawl you'll be fine.
You off road sometimes on weekend you'll likely be fine.
You going hard every weekend or more...you better be ready to fix some shit. So run em till you fuck em then repair properly and ditch the spacers.
