I'm looking to get 33s with beadlocks on my Tacoma but I want to know what offset some of you guys are running. I need some input from crawlers that take the suspension and steering to its limit.

I'm set on 33s no less and 17" wheels. Most 17" rims jump around from 9-8.5" I want to be able to turn full lock with minimal to no rubbing. At full tuck ill probably have to cut the fenders a bit. These were what i am looking at with 3.5" backspace. https://www.battlebornwheels.com/products/gate-keeper-offroad-beadlock-black?variant=40366305869

    @Wulf

    You ran 33s on 17s didn't you?

I ran 33s (295/70/17) on 5th gen 4 runner 17x7.5s with 1.5" spacers (about 3.3" BS). They still touched the frame at lock while flexing.

This is a 17x9 Procomp with 3.5" BS. I'd expect the same.

Do I count as a crawler that takes suspension at steering to the limit? :luvya: :homer:

They're too small, no bead lock, and offset suck to put bigger tires on.

Never broke a bead airing down to 8 psi on these 4runner wheels.

    Here's 295/70/17 on the 4runner wheels with 1.5" spacers.

I've wheeled hard enough to break a CV and rear axle shaft with spacers attached and no damage to the spacers themselves

Then I guess the only real advantage is being able to mount tires yourself. Ill look for some 4runner wheels. Socal used market can be overpriced. Found a set of enduros but the guy never got back to me with backspace. Right now I dont want to waste mine or his time checking it. 3.5 backspace seems to be rare. Besides mounting my sliders is more important that wheels. Already hit my fender mount at cleghorn.

I'm glad you told me. I can save some money, and maybe throw in a retarded low ratio in the diffs with the money saved.
Rig is a manual so doing what autos can, is not easy by any means. Tacobox is on the list but also not something ill do unless I see the need.

Just wondering, why would you want lower gear ratios with bigger tires?

Keep power delivery equal or better to stock. Can use it to slow your rig down too, so for manual trucks gives you more reaction time. Autos are cheaters so I dont care.
If the stars align ill do a SAS 3 link next year. Ill want 5.29's at that point. It won't be a daily at that point.

bigger tires effectively raise the gear ratio, so imagine starting out in 2nd gear all the time.

Rock crawlers will typically over compensate that gearing, so they'll get an even lower final gear ratio than stock. That's so they can go super slow. They top out at 55 on the highway, but trailer princesses typically don't care about highway performance. :D

Yeah, I always seem to get that backwards too. I always have to think twice about it. Like 4.88 is a higher number but a lower gear ratio.
