    Hey all,

    New member here..first

This is the first Tacoma I’ve owned. Also, I’ve checked the forum for this issue but didn’t find much. (Maybe I didn’t search hard enough)

    https://youtu.be/QibpEWB7jiw

The last few days, I’ve been hearing what sounds to be a rubber to rubber squeaking coming from the front end. This weekend I decided to jack my truck and take a look. Outer tie rods, lower ball joints, UCA, LCA seems to be fine but when I grabbed my tires from the 3 and 9 o’clock position I’m able to move the tires side to side and you can hear a clunky sound. Also want to mention that both wheels move in sync with each other when rocking side to side.
I just want some opinions on what this could be. Is this something serious that needs to be fixed right away?
    Any feedback is appreciated.
    Thanks

    Welcome!

It looks like the tie rod is moving in sync with the wheel. Could you be hearing the steering column lock hitting the stops? Maybe turn the key On to unlock the column and see if you get the same result?

I too had a squeak coming from the front end, thought is was suspension related but found out yesterday that it was the oem (black) 'skid cover'.
I'm thinking the person that did my oil change didnt or couldn't tighten it up correctly.
    Just my .02...

Checking a hanging tie rod can give a false positive for bad tie rods.
It needs to be done on an alignment rack with the wheel supported but free to move.

    Good point.

Carefully jacking the LCAs could help at home.

Check your body mounts. Threads on here recently on low mile trucks.

Thanks for your input. I re-torqued majority of the front and components yesterday and unfortunately the rubber to rubber noise is still active.

I have some of those heavy duty furniture sliders. Going to put those under my tires and see if that works.

I just placed an order for some radiator mount bushings from energy suspension. I’ve read here that some people have fix the rubber to rubber squeaking noise by swapping those mounts bushings.

I have a squeak too and am guessing I'll need to do the same.

Try retorquing the body mounts first. I had both leaf spring squeaks and body mount squeaks. After a few goes with lube on the leaf pads, that has gone away permanently. I retorqued the four rear cab mounts and that noise never came back. As long as the mount is not coming apart.

I will try that. Leafs are good for a minute after a fair greasing. I think the squeak is from the front end somewhere and it has been there since new, or close. It's annoying, but not as bad as the damn Darkas. Going over all my bolts before a long Colorado trip shortly.

I have Dakar’s leaf pack and they started squeaking two weeks after install. Sprayed some fluid film and they haven’t made a sound in 3 months.

Ah! Mine was coming from the rear and seemed like leafs. It took more than a turn of the mounts to click off. Thankfully the front is quiet other than the brake pad pins sliding around on corners.
