Hey guys, my 09 DCSB with 34k on the clock has a pronounced left turn growl.
Stock suspension, stock sport wheels running BFGs.
    What the heck?

You sure is not your CV joints? Bearings make noise all the time when picking up speed.

Running through lots of water will wash out the bearings and shorten the life. The same goes for the universal joints.

Jack the front end up, grab your tire at 12 o'clock and 6 and push and pull to see if there's any play. If there isn't then grab the tire at 9 o'clock and 5 and do the same. There should only be very minimal play. Make sure your tie rods are tight too and that there are no leaks from anything.

    Nope, not sure it's bearings.
I checked the CV boots and they are fine on the outside.
Jacked it up and no excessive play according to my finely calibrated hands.
    Maybe a dragging brake pad?
No time to mess around with it myself, taking the bike for a few days and it goes to a shop Monday.

Even better wheel bearing check method. Jack up the front corner in suspect. Turn the wheel and while doing so touch one of the coils on the strut. If you feel anything when the wheel is spinning it's the bearing. The grinding and such will transfer up into the suspension.

Have replaced both my fronts, drivers at 115k and passenger at 135k. Both were grumbling at highway speeds and went away when cornering. Both were badly pitted at the bottom of the housing, as if water had accumulated in there.

Well on the 2nd gen tacoma, the wheel bearings are sealed (that is if the seal is still good) :)

On my 2nd gen my Driver side front bearing lasted 140k miles, the replacement only lasted 3k miles... sigh

Front ones are good with about 70k on the odometer. But I put a right rear wheel bearing in it at around 62k.

3 inch front strut spacer and 2 inch real add a leaf with dif..drop down spacers.
My sounded bad at 60k but after taking it out and examine it, it looks good still. Put it back on and runs great again but last week took it in for Spiral recall and deal told me that the left side is bad and wanted $750 to fix it. Though I have not notice changes since last examined.

My 2010 has 56k on it and I just had to have my driver's side front bearing replaced. However, my dealership replaced it under powertrain warranty.

Thread revival. I’m at 160k on the front end. CV’s and Bearings all OG. No signs of failure to speak of.
