Just wondering, my 2020 babe Tacoma who is named Rosalita has just about 60 k on her now. Toyota recommends plug replacement at this time on the V6 which is her powerplant Has anyone followed through with this or had issues from not following through? I've been shopping for plugs online and the packages all include ignition coils so I am like what the? Any other recommendations for servicing at 60 k is appreciated. Thank you in advance folks.

I did mine around 65k. That's what Toyota recommends and..well doesn't hurt to change them even if not truly needed. Myself and many others on the forums have found one of them on the passenger side to be slightly loose from the factory.

You can get plugs on Amazon, just double-check they aren't fakes. Got all mine on Amazon for $60~ last year.

You can postpone the replacement for another 10-20k miles. Do not replace coils, just plugs. Buy from reputable sources

Would you like to know more about the vacuum pump replacement every 100k as scheduled in the maintenance booklet?

Gendering and naming a truck is wild.

That said 60k is the service interval, plugs are pricy but it’s good to change them at least then. They are known to be under torqued. Also I’d recommend going oem from Toyota apparently fake plugs are a thing

My Toyota master mechanik neighbor laughed and said no, wait until 100,000 miles. So until I notice the engine missing or shit(tier) mileage I’ll wait.

Buy them OEM from a local dealer. Look them up on the Toyota parts site, and order them from a local dealer that allows free pick-up. You can find them for $5-7 each without much trouble. (Unless your truck requires something other than copper Denso's: platinum, etc.) They'll likely be ready for pick up by the next day and they won't be counterfeit.

I just rolled 60k on my 2019 and I'm planning on proactively changing my plugs this weekend for the following reasons:

    1) Toyota recommends it. 60,000 miles is a very appropriate balance of time and distance. It is almost the ideal definition of a "preventative maintenance" interval.

    2) It is much better to change plugs at 5 years than wait another 5 years when they have increased risk of being brittle, fragile, and seized in the cylinder head such that being unable to remove one is a risk worth mitigating now. This is a big factor for me.

    3) Call me crazy (and I've been called far worse) but when it comes to plugs, coils, fuel injectors and fuel pumps, and other critical electrical components, but I'm only buying such parts directly from my local Toyota dealer.

    YMMV

The 1GR had copper plugs with 30k replacement interval in the maintenance booklet. Worn spark plugs cause misfires, increasing emissions and can burn the cats. If your catalytic converter failed during the 8yr/80k emissions warranty period, Toyota may require evidence of on-schedule spark plug replacement to honor the warranty.
Apparently the 2GR-FKS doesn't generate enough intake manifold vacuum to power the brakes, so there's a vacuum pump. Toyota life'd the pump to 100k. Replacement requires jacking up the transfer case and transmission to pitch the engine forward in the frame, in order to access the pump at the back of the engine.

Toyota did a recall on some 2017 pumps, so this recall document shows the replacement procedure: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2018/RCRIT-18V211-7735.pdf If my truck had a vacuum pump, it would've probably been in the recall range.

Almost wish I didn't ask. Between the front timing chain cover, rear coolant manifold and now this...Yikes
