2014 factory entune head unit recently started making this noise.

It doesn't happen all the time, only sometimes.
Input doesn't matter; it happens with bluetooth, radio, and CD.
It happens at any volume. Turning the volume all the way down doesn't stop it.
    Pausing music doesn't stop it.
Using different apps on my phone doesn't stop it.
Turning off the radio does stop it.
Turning off truck does stop it.

Has anyone else heard this, or know what causes it?

    Bump.
Might be heat related? Seems to happen more often now that it's hot.

i believe your radio is going bad.

in my other vehicle, my pioneer radio/ alpine amp has started doing something similar. i haven't troubleshot it past what you have. and banging on things. banging on things near the radio/amp usually stops it.

I’ve started banging on the radio, it doesn’t fix it, but maybe eventually.

Update: seems the heat isn't helping. I don't seem to have this problem in the mornings when it's cool, but it starts almost immediately if the truck sits in the sun and gets hot.

Time to replace the head unit.

Based on the noises it’s making I’d also agree time for a new hu. Could probably get a used one here for cheap if you want to keep oem. Cause is likely a failing part, which is probably not worth the money to repair. Also it’s a good thing it stops when powered off that at least tells you it’s contained to the hu and not something with the truck wiring itself.

Yeah, I'm glad it's not bad wiring in the speakers, etc.

Random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
Yup internals are a little tired I’ll say.

I have this exact same thing happening now. I took off the ground at the battery, and reconnected it. That annoying sound seems to have gone away, but we shall see.
