whats the red blinking car with key icon??

hey can anyone help,
my dads truck has a red car blinking light with a key in it, does anyone know what its for? thanks in advance

"It's the Engine Immobilizer System, toyotas anti-theft system once u insert the key into the ignition the transponder on the key sends a signal to the system to shut off allowing you to turn on the engine. Without the right key to match the signal the engine wont turn on. It turns on automatically after you remove the key."

 

Your Tacoma key has a chip in it.

The flashing key symbol means the truck's sensor for this chip is activated.

I have the same issue on my Tacoma 2007. If I understood correctly, the flashing of the car with key is normal after removing the key? Because once the car is on, it goes awy.
