I just removed and cleaned up my HVAC Box.

The white levers have some kind of lubricant that I may have wiped too much off in the process of cleaning them. I'd like to put a dab of something back on there but I'm not sure what to use. The guy at Autozone didn't know either. Would just petroleum jelly work?

Probably the cheapest bulk grease there is. It's for plastic pieces after all. Dielectric is what I have in my box so I'd just use that but I'm sure you can use anything.

Looks that way, I'm honestly not sure what kind of grease they use on those but like I said anything is better than nothing.
It came up when I was searching for the MolyKote grease in the post below.
We were speculating on the grease in the 4wd actuators which I believe is the same stuff used on those slides, apparently Toyota calls it body grease.

This seems to be a viable alternative.

@RockfordTaco2006, food grade just means not poisonous. So, if you accidentally eat some, you'll be okay. No need to induce vomiting or seek medical attention. Also, I'd recommend white lithium grease.

    Toyota's grease SDS https://toyota.jp/pages/contents/after_service/car_care/yohin/sds/pdf/Grease/08887-02007_201602.pdf
shows it's Molykote YM-102, which is white lithium grease: https://www.dupont.com/content/dam/...nts/en/MOLYKOTE_YM-102_Grease_80-3102C-01.pdf

I've used CRC "Super White" with good results https://www.fastenal.com/product/details/63296

I'm sure it's something. Not sure what it is. You could try white lithium grease. I would. Better than nothing.

I'd avoid petroleum jelly. It's based on petroleum. Which is where gas comes from. I don't know for sure, but I imagine something like that would gradually eat away and dissolve plastic components.
Same reason they say that if you have a tub of yellowish wheel bearing grease laying around, do not use it on things like rubber sway bar bushings, as it's petroleum-based and will dissolve them

same way if you take a plastic red solo cup and put some gasoline in it, by the next morning the bottom of the cup will be dissolved
any why red fuel carry containers are red; the plastic is a specific design to handle that

Also Petroleum Jelly has a low melting point around body temp
The inside of our turks on a hot summer day in the sun can get much hotter than that so it would melt and run/drip off

The grease found on all of the interior components (switches, levers, etc..) is called damping grease. Besides being a lubricant, the main function of damping grease is to exhibit a specific feel for the component it is being used on. The damping grease(s) on the different components, switches, etc.. are usually proprietary and the manufacture of the grease won't offer those specific greases for sale. They may have something close, but you will have to know specifically what you are looking for. Nye lubricants makes damping grease.

Can't help you on the petroleum jelly.
