    Hey guys,
Whats the pink antifreeze coolant that dealerships use on 3rd gen Taco's? mine is starting to get a little low and I dont want to use the blue stuff that you normally buy at autoparts stores.

I was using the search function on the forum and someone said it was this? https://www.amazon.com/Zerex-Asian-Antifreeze-Coolant-Ready/dp/B0033QO022/ but I just wanted to make sure I was ordering the right stuff because it looks to be red instead of pink.

Edit: I also found this pink one that Amazon says is also compatible with my 3rd gen: https://www.amazon.com/PEAK-Extended-Prediluted-Antifreeze-Vehicles/dp/B08PNH7PSX/

I just went to a local Toyota dealer to make sure I got the right stuff. It was cheap like $18 for a jug.

Yep, if you want to go to an auto supply store look and you’ll see Asian import on one of the different jugs

Pretty sure you can mix different color anti-freeze's without any negative issues if you had to since they all use the same primary ingredient (ethylene glycol). But like everything that comes out of my mouth; I could be wrong. :)

You can, and yes, the basic ingredient is EG, the difference is in the formulation of the anti-corrasion additives; it's NOT a good idea to use an anti-freeze meant for an iron block in an aluminum one and vice-versa. You probably don't need to spend dealership prices for the Toyota-branded stuff, but make sure you get something indicated as being compatible/appropriate for your vehicle.

It's anecdotal, but I've owned, researched, and worked on one Toyota Tercel, one 4Runner, one Landcruiser (FJ60), two Tundras, and four Tacomas and there always seemed to be consistent experiences with people trying alternate anti-freeze brands and having significant issues after. For me, and my 2021 Tacoma, it'll always be Toyota Super Long Life from a stealership, despite the increased cost.

You live in the tropics. Topping up with distilled water for 1/2 a gallon or so won't hurt a thing.

Question is where is the coolant going? It's a semi sealed system, a pretty new truck, and levels should stay very consistent.

If your coolant is getting low then you have a problem. Its not normal for coolant to go missing unless something is wrong, with a new truck I would assume its a leak somewhere.

Are you sure you're not just seeing the normal fluctuation of coolant levels in the reservoir? The level in the reservoir fluctuates depending on temperature. Don't want to overfill it thinking it's going missing when it's not

I havent added any coolant since I drove the truck off the lot because its always stayed topped off, it might be that some of it evaporated or got used up? the truck sits out in the sun all day because I dont have a garage or roof over the truck. The amount of coolant that was missing was very minimal (maybe like 1-2 lines) while the truck was turned off.

I was doing a quick google search and I found the official coolant that Toyota uses (the real pink stuff instead of red stuff that the 3rd partys use).

    This is the link:

Oh Thank you! thats actually a better price than my local dealership was charging for it ($15.28 vs $16.27).

I have a leak and I'm suspecting the junction pipe on the top of the engine in the back unfortunately for me.

I am going to start drinking wine since my local supermarket has wine that is cheaper than orange juice.
