I've been researching wedge campers for a bit and have noticed a ton of different offerings in length. What do you think is the perfect size?

Lone Peak gives you a lot of space but weighs more and has 4 feet of overhang. It also requires an extra step for setup. GFC both weighs and affects the look of the truck less, but seems less ideal if you're taller.

Below are some lengths and images for common campers for reference.

    GFC - 8.08 ft
    Oru Design 9 ft
    Lone Peak 10 ft

@el_turks was right to say consider the Harker, and Topo Mesa is another to consider here.

For length, YouTube reviews and some overlanding specific resources have touched on how they are for your specific height and also the inside access for standing. Those sources are where I better learned Topo will ship for your final assembly.

I'm still searching for the right pickup I'm certain has to be a long bed. One of the manufacturers I spoke with said long bed helps with the mounting a bit but It appears to me most of the campers I'm looking at use same length tops. Straight sides are a different subject but worth considering. I get that advantage but don't want my general fuel economy impacted if possible.

Any post on these products catches my attention.

The total weight added weight will also impact your decisions on what tires and suspension upgrades you will need. I just added KO3s E rated to my Tacoma and now I am looking at upgrading the suspension. You MPGs will be impacted no matter what... just the tires alone are very noticeable on my ride. It is heavier to make it roll.

How tall are you that a 8 ish foot sleeping bed isn't enough? an I understand about losing a few inches due to the wedge
I went with a GFC based on weight, the difference between 275# and 400# with a higher center of gravity is a big deal, customer service and the new upgrades, that put it on par with the rest of the makers now

Throwing this in here, cause I can. :D No, I do not have one, but, like to look.

Sometimes the square/rectangle has more useable space than the wedge.

I’ve been the owner of one of the first GFC’s as well as an Alu-Cab and a friend of mine just got an OVRLND on his Gladiator and we did a month long trip together.

In my opinion they are all tall enough to stand up in without problems. What ended up being most important to me was the distance BEHIND the bed with the bed down…. Reason…. This is your useable space in the morning and or to get up at night…. On rainy or cold mornings my AluCab Khaya had plenty of room for me to get down and make coffee while my wife stayed in bed. That was clutch to not have to get up at the same time.

My GFC with the panels I found to be inconvenient if you have to pee at night having to wake your partner up while you pop out a panel.

FWIW, I gave up on the smaller campers now and bought an F350 with a Supertramp…. That’s the reason I like the Tune M1, its WIDE and the full size version has similar demensions to my Supertramp.

I'll be checking them out at the end of august and report back. I like the out of the box thinking that took to create the EDC.

I think you need to figure out your priorities to get better input from the peanut gallery. I've had a GFC, Vagabond, Oru, Snap! Treehouse, flippac, and a few FWC's...all have unique and subtle advantages.

Of all of them the Vagabond was by far my favorite (now made by BAMF), followed by the treehouse. For my uses the GFC was my least favorite, but for my buddies uses he loves it way more than most of my campers. I can also see how a GFC would be the first choice if my uses were different. So with all that said, what are some priorities or things you're looking for with the new camper? The most space to build out? Biggest sleeping area? Sleekest/lightest/best mpg's? Most options for windows, t-tracks, fans, etc? Exterior access? Getting in and out of the bed?

I genuinely do not get the appeal of the tent/extra set up that the EDC offers. Can you, or someone who owns a EDC, fill me in on how you use that space and/or why you like more than the alternative? For my uses it seems like a lot of extra work for not a lot of room...but I also suck at thinking outside the box lol

I have a Lone Peak on my Gladiator. I love the length. The large pass through with the bed down is great. And I like the small pop out awning section. And the bed being on struts is wonderful.
And the price is right. Starts out $2500 less than a GFC and half the price of many others.

is not a matter of convincing but of what fits your style. I am not looking at the EDK but EXO. I can see the benefit of the EDK to get the to use the extended space but not everyone wants this and other do and it is good to have options.

Topo Toppers has a new model, Rincon. It’s a little wider than the bed and has a 80” sleeping platform.

Get a Tundra with an 8’ bed if you want space inside your camper. Many of the long bed models you don’t even have to stow away the bed to stand.
