I see people shitting on blocks no matter what size they are... I don't get it. Doesn't the TRD Pro come with a 1" block in the rear? The westcott designs lift for the pro even comes with one. Am I missing something along with Toyota's, westcott's, and just about every DB lift company's engineers?

Any truck >4" lift is pretty much guaranteed to be running blocks, and those DB lift trucks ride smoother than us regular suspension lift guys

The trd pro does not come with blocks in the rear but the trd lift kit does. Blocks in the rear likely have less problems than a spacer on the front. The only downside I am aware of is increased axle hop.

Mostly because these trucks suffer from axle wrap before a lift. Blocks amplify it.
I wouldn’t worry about 1” but anything more I would not recommend. Just know that at some point you’ll likely experience some wrap.

The best option is lifting using springs.

Most DB bro dozer lifts are add-a-leaf and blocks. They suffer from axle wrap badly and usually need traction bars to compensate for it.

1" blocks are fine, I've never seen an issue yet, they are for aesthetics only, they don't improve anything except for looks.

The problem with leafs is if you want to lift using only leafs you end up with a rigid rough ride, so the block is a nice means to an end.

No DB truck drives better than a standard lifted truck. They only have one benefit and thats level control arms and steering angles.

I have 2" in. blocks on my truck and let me tell you... Axle wrap on these trucks is no joke. It can go from feeling like a slipping transmission to sounding like someone is hitting your truck with a hammer because it wraps so much. Hindsight is always 20/20 but when I thought my truck would be fine as a pavement princess, let me tell you, I was wrong! DONT EVER GO WITH BLOCKS. Buy once cry once and go with leaf spring lifts. I'm trying to figure out what to replace my blocks with ASAP because my axle wrap is so horrible.

Oof. I feel that, one of my coworkers put me onto a company out of Sacramento so I might look into that.

Along with what has already been mentioned, blocks reduce available bump travel. The bump stops are attached to the leaf springs, but the shock mount is on the axle. With a 1” block, there will be an extra inch of shock shaft exposed when the bumps are fully compressed. The shock doesn’t magically extend an extra inch to compensate, so that inch is travel you no longer have.

Having been on this site for nearly 14 years, i've understood that the majority think that 1" blocks are "fine." The loss of travel isn't overly significant unless you're offroading and actually NEED that travel. Daily driving, like most of us on this site, you'll be fine. Even then, you'll still be fine if you upgrade shocks.
