I'm mainly looking to tint the front windows to match the back but also want heat rejection on all windows including windshield and sunroof. It seems XPEL XR is the best. One place quoted $899 and another was $1250. Seems high?

    Oh look, another mod....
I had 5% ceramic tint done on my truck, all the windows done for $300. That included them removing the old tint.

What brand and does it block heat?

I'm not 100% sure on the name brand, but it's ceramic. I insisted on that. I live in the Fort Worth area of Texas. Our summers are 6+ months long, and we always get 80 or more days of 105+ degree days. I blacked out my windows to reduce the heat in my truck.

It sits in my company parking lot (uncovered) for 8hours a day. The tint I have dramatically reduces the inside temp, it also blocks the UV rays.

Yeah, a good quality ceramic tint is the way to go in hot climes. But be careful about going too dark on the % tint as it can make seeing a night a bit dicey.

That’s extremely expensive. My buddy got his new charger done with high quality ceramic including the windshield for under 600.

I paid my shop $15 a window to remove old tint.

Then it was $260 for just the front two windows, 5%, the highest grade ceramic they sold.

Id guess closer to mid 700s considering you want alot of glass tinted. You can remove old tint by yourself as long as you don't have defrost on it. Ask for a price break down they might be trying to upcharge on tint. Which case you can just buy your own. Always get a quote lots of tint places try to lure you in and change the price.

Dude, do not fall for the hype. If the air temp outside is 98 degrees F and you have somehow managed to weld steel plate over all your window openings and insulation behind the steel, you go in to the store and come back out and guess what... the interior is gonna be at least 98 degrees.
    Nothing blocks heat.
I work in a building with 18" thick concrete walls and a white roof and it still gets just as hot as the outside on the inside. It takes awhile but it happens in a few hours. Lol window tint is like sunglasses, it dims the sunlight coming through.

This is true. It’s more about blocking uv though not really the heat itself.

I agree that inside will be as hot as outside but cars are like fishbowls. The uv light goes in hits something and is absorbed creating heat. This can cause the car to become much hotter then it is outside the car. By applying a uv tint or windsheild shade you can reflect some of that uv light before it enters the car keeping the inside cooler, not cooler then outside but cooler then it would be otherwise. 5% mixed with a closed sunroof and windsheild shade keeps the car as cool as its gonna get. Also ceramic tint can help keep inside parts nice and prevent fade and brittlement by reducing uv rays. It is impossible to tell if a tint is ceramic though so be careful you get what you pay for.

Paid $200 for the front two windows last week for my truck. 20% non ceramic. Your quote is extremely high, IMO.

Oof! I got good 20% Llumar film but not ceramic given my location for $130. That was reasonable. $1k seems psychotic?

I see your in New Jersey... Might want to rethink tint, law says no front windshield and no front side windows. If you get pulled over that money will go right down the drain when you have to remove it.

Yup, $400 for ceramic tint on front windows (98% UV block, as dark as legally possible), and clear ceramic (98% UV block) on the rest.

If sitting static, of course it will be about the same as the outside air temp (usually a little hotter inside). But, when running down the road with A/C, it helps block the heat infiltration significantly.

No money, all went to truck...
You mainly want to only do front windows and want to everything else done too? Hehe.

I usually don't care to tint my windows besides factory tint but I'm thinking of the same as you. I parked next to a tinted tacoma the other day and it was nice compared to mine.

For side windows, the easy mitigation, if not using stupid dark limo tint, is to just roll them down if pulled over. I have not had a problem here, even when they used to do "emphases" extra revenue collection patrols.

Ceramic tint 100% helps keep the interior cooler. It's not about air temp, it's about sunlight and UV.

When I drive my CRZ (regular tint) I can feel the sun thru the windows. On a sunny day I can feel the sun warming up my left arm when sun shines thru the window despite the AC blowing and keeping the air inside cool. When I drive my Tacoma (ceramic tint) I can't feel the sun's warmth on my arm at all. The difference is night and day.

Huge difference with the dash too since on my Tacoma I tinted the windshield. Regular, untinted windshield allows the sun to heat up the dash. The dash then radiates that heat into your vehicle. With the ceramic tint the dash temp isn't as high and it thus radiates less heat into the car.

A friend had his car ceramic tinted and raved about it. Eventually I tried it on one of our cars and I was instantly hooked. IMO, it's not even worth getting regular tint. Only reason I haven't tinted the CR-Z yet is that I'm not 100% sure I'm keeping it long term. When I make that decision it'll go in for full ceramic.
