What's a good shift module to eliminate trans hunting/shifting issues?

OK, Ive been away for a long time now and coming back to ask for suggestions on the notorious shifting issues with 6 speed auto trans. Im so sick and tired of the drivability issues with this truck. I installed the OV tune and it was absolutely useless, whether it was my lack of installing it correctly or if that program is crap. Im not going to read 3500 post on it, dont think I would live long enough to finish. Any help or suggestions appreciated. Maybe is there anyone in the San Francisco that could do a proper install might be worth a try. TIA.

The three-second delay for a full-throttle downshift is the most frustrating. It's like City Council needs to vote on a downshift after I floor it. Back in the good ol' days, there was a cable, rod or electric switch (under the accelerator) that told the transmission to downshift NOW.

look in to the OTT tune. (Overland Taylor tune) It does wonders for the shifting, as well as torque and HP.

Nothing is going to "fix" the transmission issues. You can change shift points, you can change engine timing, but the gears are the gears. Regearing the differentials will help some with the gear hunting but will reduce top speed. The best thing I have found is to just shift it manually.

I dunno, perhaps I'm not savvy enough to notice, but I find NOTHING wrong with my stock 2021
    transmission. It works just fine.

All these years and I still haven't figured out what "gear hunting" means? My auto shifts up when it needs to and down when it needs to. Seems pretty normal to me but maybe I am missing something. Good luck to the OP in finding some level of satisfaction with his truck.

I automatically (pun intended?) always use "S" drive and go with S4 for back streets, easily flick up to S5 for 2 lane highways, and S6 only when on the freeways (unless real hilly, then S5. Works well for me.

I just booked an appointment at my local tuner for the OTT. I'm pretty excited. I'm only doing it for the transmission behavior, as I don't expect a truck to be a sports car, but any noticeable gains with HP/torque will be cool to.

In all honesty the transmission is fine the way it came but I do notice its odd/awkward shifting behavior, especially in stop and go traffic, and wouldn't mind an improvement. Plus I'm a nerd for things like this so very much looking forward to see what the OTT can do.

Unfortunately the 3.5 V6 doesn't make much usable power in the lower RPM range. You could try a different tune, re-gear, or sell it off. The transmission is doing it's job,,,, shifting to get the RPM's up when power is needed,,, then shifting back to reduce emissions and fuel consumption (big GOV mandated).

You did the tune yourself? OVT i believe is one of the older tunes. I have OTT (mild/medium) and it fixed everything you're describing.

I had pedal commander and it helped some but replaced with an actual tune (KDMax) and it drives like a normal transmission should. Kept me from selling the truck but it did take a small hit on gas mileage.

I do drive with etc on and manually shift 95% of the time. But its still a pita to drive smoothly. Sometimes I have to give almost half pedal travel before it goes, and when it does it downshifts and throws everyone back in the seat. When it was new, I got a speeding ticket trying to go from 15-25 mph. Is the VTT an update for the OVT? Is there a link for this or pedal commander? Sometimes I consider selling it, Tacoma is not very impressive on the quality between peeling paint, timing cover leak ($6k) and crappy shifting issues.
I will add I live in the hills where constantly going up or down 6-12% grades, in second gear this vehicle has no downhill compression hold back unless Im going 35-40 mph. hard not to keep warping front rotors.

Get a bigger engine, and a 4 speed transmission to avoid the transmission dance we have with this gen Tacoma v6. Ski

I only use ETC when getting onto a freeway or going up a hill.
Coasting speeds cause a pulsating effect, for me, when etc is left on.
