Looking for one that is low profile and sits really close to the hood I don't like the ones that stick up real far

FYI, AVS is popular and pretty low profile.

none, just dont do it. tacoma hoods dont have a huge area to protect from bugs. wash them off more often, or use a spray on "bug shield" like Griot's garage has, if you need something. just something else to wear on the finish, to me. Ski

+1 for AVS. Their products are well made, low profile and look great.

My Lund bug deflector looked very similar on an older toyota pickup, but all in all a worthless object causing loss of mpg and hood shake when at highway speeds.

Jury's still out on worthless on my end. Here in south FL it's impossible to do a highway run and not get bugs on your windshield but hard to say if it makes any difference. I can say I don't get any hood shake and I didn't notice a difference in MPG, but I hear where you are coming from. I'm one of those weirdos that likes the way it looks and if it offers a little bit of extra protection I'm happy.

I went with AVS because they look good. Has also prevented rocks from skittering across the hood.

I too went with the AVS. How effective it is at keeping bugs off the windshield is debatable at best. I ran our truck through one summer with no deflector the first year we owned it. Installed the shield during the winter of our second year and I'm not seeing a tremendous difference in the windshield bug population. The one saving grace is that the shield didn't require any irreversible alterations, ie drilling etc., to the truck and it doesn't come in contact with the paint finish at all.

AVS and the Weathertech are the exact same thing. The label even has both names on it that it ships with. Just FYI, absolutely no difference between the two.

If you install one, check for fitment before closing the hood all the way. My hood alignment is awful and I was not able to use a deflector as it hit the top of the headlights on one side. There have been a few posts here with the same issue or worse.

This, I like mine. I have one on my 99 and 21. My buddy doesn't have one on his 98 and the front of his hood is in really bad shape, mine looks ok for a 24 year old truck...

I don't mind the looks and think it doesn't do a damn thing in regards to gas mileage.... :duel:

AVS has better fit than WT. I bought two WTs and returned them both for fit issues. One side was actually hitting the grille surround when you closed the hood. I could have fixed it with a Dremel but screw that.

In all fairness these deflectors do protect against paint chips from underneath them. I guess thats a plus. Then again so has the ceramic glass coat that was done on my truck over 3 years ago....still not a single paint chip.
