Not thinking winter but for now and summer (Texas & Florida) what windshield washer fluid would work best for bugs and still be fine for rain?
    Thanks

I’ve had good luck with the orange rain x stuff. Whatever they put in it for the winter temps dissolves bugs.

Already love bug season here in Louisiana. I have always treated my windshield with RainX year round and use their orange stuff during the season. Works better than anything else I have tried so far. Just be sure and get them off your paint as well though. Once they are baked on it takes a lot of effort to get it off (think WD40 and a rag tough).

This and the Rain-X squeegee. You can refill it with the green stuff for the when the wipers won't get the job done.

Careful with this stuff. ( any of it )

This is a true story - names and places have been changed to protect the innocent.

So the wife drives a 2017 Forester. We bought it new and I like it, if I ever buy another 'car' it will be a Forester or the CrossTrek.

Anywho I degress - so this thing has a 'sensor' in the housing that tells you when the fluid is getting low. I mean that's a bit of overkill
I can always tell when it's low by using it and nothing comes out right? Duh.

One day I bought some standard garden variety wiper fluid at WallyWorld ( name changed ... protections etc etc ) and filled it.

Well apparently it is made with some kind of 'something' that fked the sensor up, so it blinked all the time. Subaru wanted $160 diagnostic
fee to tell me what I already knew... the sensor was messed up. Ballparked me $600 to replace it. Thank you no to either option I said and left.
Meanwhile my go-to Subaru-Dude reached under, yanked the plug, and presto, no more blinking light telling me I needed to add fluid.

Moral is, if you drive anything that has one of these 'sensors' to tell you that you need to fill it, careful what you put in there as it can wreck the sensor.

    Great story!

How did life get to the point where the obvious needs a sensor?

It makes people more and more lazy. Then when said sensor stops sensoring, these lazy folks are screwed out of unnecessary money.

We are heading towards Idiocracy. With AI getting more popular, it won't be the humans advancing this, it will be the AI dumbing down humans even more.

Me too. Orange Rain-X. And it’s true. On occasion, if conditions are right, the rain just sheets off the windshield.

When those washer fluid tank level sensors become self aware, we are screwed!

Now we just need a sensor plug we can pull that shuts off the ABSOLUTELY STUPID tire pressure monitor!

For most situations I agree. If my truck didn't have the actual pressure readout for each tire, then I would certainly be fine going back to no icon on the dash that would indicate that one of the tires is low/flat.

The individual tire pressure read out is a bit more informative for offroad use. Still not really needed, but has some merit.

What we are really missing is coolant level amd oil level indicators. We have the pesky seatbelt indicators/chimes that are really silly, but nothing for the coolant or the oil.

You know, it won't be long before we'll have to watch two or three commercials on the infotainment screen before the ignition will work.

Perish the thought.... or better yet, copyright this idea and then patent the technology and then burn it for the sake of mankind.

I remember we had an extra-buggy summer a few years ago so I just went and bought some cheap washer fluid from CanadianTire and added about half a cup of spray cleaner to the washer fluid reservoir (I think I used ‘Simple Green’). It made the wiper blades squeak a little but washed the bugs off really well...
